January Delivery @Jacksonville Port (US Southeast destination)

I’ve starting to get really anxious about my Taycan so I’ve been doing some more info spelunking. It leads me to believe that if SA gets to Jacksonville on Dec 25 the cars will be unloaded on Dec 25.

First of all the Port of Jacksonville itself is open every day of the year. But I think that is true for every port. But the services vendors in the port run on their own schedules.

From looking around VW shipping has used APS Stevedoring to unload cars in the past. APS Stevedoring also lists VW shipping and Porsche as major customers. Unfortunately their site does not list a holiday schedule.

Combining the time SA has already lost on this voyage and the $100K a day cost to just “wait around” I think VW will pay whatever it takes to get APS in there to do the unload.

So arrival at Florida and Atlanta dealerships by Dec 27 (Monday) seems like a for sure. As for dealerships that open the day after Christmas… that’s a possibility too!

Evening report

The Port of Jacksonville has SA listed with an ETA of Dec 29. Remember that the ETA is the latest the ship is expected to arrive. Port of Baltimore and Port of Halifax still don’t list an ETA or pro forma ETA of SA.

It looks like SA will have no problem making to the pilot station on time which is only about 33 miles away right now. From there the port is only about 40 miles away. Already on the map the icons for the harbor, pilot station, and SA are entangled!

By late tomorrow afternoon we will have better idea how the rest of the voyage will go.

SA is at a Ro Ro dock in Halifax! This isn’t a live photo, it’s from Google Maps and a ship must have been a Ro Ro at the dock when the satellite passed over. The marker is SA’s current position though.

Nice. Saw that this morning. I wonder if we will get any TYD updates given this. I think we are still looking good for Baltimore 12/23 and Jax 12/25. I am hoping Jax actually happens 12/24…

My guess is that it is some kind of partially manual process. Someone at VW/Porsche must be on top of the dates SA will get to Baltimore and Jacksonville... now if they will just tell the marketing people

BTW SA is tentatively scheduled to get a pilot at 2:00pm today. So that's when it should be leaving Halifax and going to Baltimore.

Man that's quick! I was thinking that maybe it didn't have "that many" cars and could turn around quickly. If It leaves at 2, what time do you think it gets to Baltimore?

I hope you are right and earn your PhD in naval navigation soon after delivery of your car . My dealer called me yesterday saying the ship won't arrive in the US by the end of the year due to weather. Probably running with some old data than this.

When the ship first set off, it was delayed due to weather and circled in place in the English Channel. It has since reached Halifax and shouldn't experience any other weather related delays. With that, it is looking good for by EOY.

I just took a look at the wind and waves. I'm not sure what kind of conditions a Ro Ro has to avoid but the winds look to be not more 35mph over the next week. I think SA was seeing winds like that in the English Channel. Waves look good too, nothing over about 8ft for the next week.

Time will tell....

CT4 in Chalk and Bordeaux Red... the CT4S allocations were too far out (10+ months) so had to compromise and add a few more options on a CT4. Coming from a Model Y Performance so hopefully it's still decent from a dig to not disappoint.
