One question on charging - despite reading many threads here I still can’t quite figure it out and the SA didn’t give me confidence in his approximative answers.

I’ll install a wall box at home - so that’s sorted. I’ll aim for DC tethered recharge when travelling so all good. The place I’ll charge at most frequently will be workplace, see pic below.
The thing I don’t understand is if I need the mobile charger that comes with the car or if I should swap it for free for a type 3 public charging cable? Or keep it (what for?) and get an extra cable for work?

You need a charging cable with a type 2 plug (Mennekes) to plug in.

Make sure you buy the 32A one because Porsche also sells a longer 16A for the same price (around 300 euro).

You don’t need the mobile charger / EVSE for this. That has a standard home plug on the other side to plug in to your home electricity system. And a Type 2 on the vehicle side.

If your wall box doesn’t include a cable you also need a cable at home. I ordered mine with a fixed cable.

If you have a wall box at home, you will only use the mobile charger occasionally. But I would keep it for emergencies on a road trip for example.

So better keep both

Thanks for the explanation! So I need a Type 2 cable (both ends with similar male plug) for my work / public AC charging - which is Mode 3

Therefore either I keep the Porsche mobile charger but it’s simply to plug into a house socket (which I’ll never do TBH!) and pay £210 for their cable or swap for free.
Did anyone purchase a non-Porsche cable elsewhere for the Type 2?

No it has a male and a female end. I don’t think you can buy 2 male ends.

My dealer says you can use any cable as long as it is for 32A if that is what u are going to use it for. I still have my BMW 32A cable. Don’t have my car yet so can’t comment on that.

Porsche cable without the Porsche premium. Exact cable I received when I collected my CT Turbo S just before Xmas.
Currently out of stock but as you're still in the process of ordering plenty of time for it to come back in.

Thanks - I’ll make sure I get a 32A. Some are 3 phases too so might go for that as in doubt

Excellent thanks! I guess the Porsche one has nothing more vs this kind of cable, e.g. build quality, logo…?
I saw that Screwfix was selling similar ones for c.£130. I’ll go 5m as it’ll already be dragging on the floor… might tuck it underneath the front end to try and avoid collecting muck on it!

BTW I’ve read different things about rain - OK to leave the port open and cable plugged in all day if big British rainy day?

I’ve never heard of that. Sounds ridiculous. I’ve had all of my Porche’s tinted. Some by the dealer some not. Never had issues with warranty.
In the UK there are a number of legal requirements/restrictions regarding tint on front and windscreen windows. Maybe that's why the dealer won't do it.

Yes that’s probably why but feels a bit rigid/hypocritical - same as Land Rover asking me to stick cover plates with the legal spacing for MOT and remove them on their car park an hour after!

I’ve never been pulled over for my tints or plate… sometimes quite dark but I’ve never put a silly 5% limo film either:

Yep. I suspect it's more the sort of thing they'll have a go at if they've pulled you for driving like an arse or something. I saw an old police camera action type documentary the other day. The traffic cop made the guy rip the tints off in front of him - he was quite mouthy!

Nope. As I said they are exactly the same. There is no "Porsche" ones. Optioned public charging cable that I was given was a 32a 3PH Harting branded cable. Config says 4.5m but I'm sure I measured mine at 5m.
Even the cables that connect to the Mobile charge Plus are branded Harting.

The 4S I test drove in December is now for sale at the dealership. It was the principal’s car so racked up a few miles. Spec imho is a nice sweet middle spot but I don’t like the 18 way and black interior is boring.

The paint is also absolutely ruined - full of swirls… can be corrected but man they went hard at it. And the tires look bald!

@f1eng if you fancy the trip since the mamba finally got sold (they had to take it down to £104k!)

Not for me!
Roof rails are not my thing and I am not fond of blue and the one thing I would NEVER choose is a black interior :)

£104k would have been too much for me.
I liked the colours but not 18 way seats or glass roof and it had pretty well none of the options I want!
