We are thinking of ordering a Taycan RWD via Tusker, we get access to the website this week at work.

I’m thinking of getting a Few extras such as 20” wheels, blue paint and the Bose speakers but otherwise happy to keep it simple.

We would be under the 40% tax bracket, hoping to do 4 years and 5 k miles a year. Does anyone have any example prices of what they paid Tusker?

I’ve seen on Love electric that the starting price for the Taycan RWD is £498 for 4 years and 5k miles but I have a feeling that Tusker will be much higher so I’m just looking for some reassurance with real world prices

Having completed a few weeks research into various suppliers and compared services/pricing I can hopefully provide some insight into this.

Basically the pricing is complicated and you need to ensure you are comparing apples with apples. Some of the online pricing available via EV SS scheme suppliers assumes two things:

1) Your employer is willing to pass on any NI savings (can be 13.8% savings)
2) Your employer is able to claim back 50% of the VAT on the payments and will pass on the savings (equates to about 10% saving)

If not then the employee pricing will be higher than what is quoted online. Also the LoveElectric online price will be based on best case scenario - cheapest insurance, highest tax bracket etc so bear that in mind also.

Starting point for Tusker (through my employer) for a RWD over 4 years, 12.5k per annum, is over £800 a month for 40% tax payer.

Not sure if that helps.

That makes more sense, as I can't see how any company would expect to turn a profit leasing a c£75k car for under £6k pa (£498 pm).

After 4 years, total repayments (Inc interest) would have been <£24k.
After interest / fees etc the company would be needing to sell it for £55k+ to break even.

Yes this does make sense, I assume that Love Eletric just puts the lowest prices possible to get as much business as possible. I’m hoping to find out today what I’m looking at with Tusker.

Also I have found most tend to use the 1% BIK tax in calculations as well even though it's changing in April to 2%!

BIK is an interesting one as on a 4 year deal with a car not coming into 2023, that is a potentially significant unknown (one which I've had to just accept!)

They have committed until 24/25 i think havent they? So you would have 25/26 and 26/27 as the unknown I take it?!

I just got my quote and I’m laughing and crying. £1001 I live in a safe neighbourhood, that is for the basic RWD car, so they are really paying £1600 for the car with insurance. Tusker cars are making so much profit that I’m probably better off buying it without SS. That is for a 3 year lease 5k miles. Am I wrong? Be great to hear others experiences

You still have the driving modes with the Chrono - but somewhat limited. The instant power is basically the same in all modes. The big difference is the suspension.
I'd agree that the powerful Turbo and Turbo S wouldn't see hardly any difference between normal and Sport+. But from my experience, the RWD does benefit from different modes. When I was given a RWD loan, it felt sluggish in normal mode, but in Sport it came alive and felt more like my 4S. In my 4S, throttle response was that bit sharper when in Sport/Sport+.

I’ve been comparing my Tusker quote to like for like Porsche dealer financing the difference is very small. Porsche works out at £76 more a month, £1105 post tax pay vs Tusker stating it’s £1600. Tusker gives me insurance, servicing etc. but in 3 years and 20k miles it will not need more than one service. So Tusker and my company are pocketing around £400 a month if I allow £100 a month for insurance. It’s not like Porsche is charging 0%, its 6.5% interest. Such a shame I was pretty excited but now I need to rethink it

Do you know if your company are passing on NI savings and any reclaimed VAT? Given your pricing I assume not.

For me (with Gentian Blue, BOSE and 20" alloys) it is coming out via Tusker at £718 over 4yrs and 5k mpa - I am in the higher tax bracket (40%) and a good insurance area. This is based on my employer passing on the NI savings in full but not claiming the VAT back. That's £1,150 total cost and then savings for the net salary cost.

But insurance could be the issue, plus the way your employer is running the scheme.

Thanks for this response, Tusker is stating a gross cost of £1600, can you confirm what yours is? If it’s £1150 that makes no sense regarding Tuskers pricing strategy

Yes £1,150 is the cost for that for me.

The issue is that whilst yes they are far apart that can be due to a number of reasons and not necessarily Tuskers pricing strategy - employers setup, insurance based on post code etc. Sorry for stupid question but are you sure you are higher rate tax payer also?
