The minute you hit a pothole with these tires and wheel and crack or bend a wheel and blowout a tire its paid for itself.
I had four BBS wheels repaired and the cost was in the hundreds of dollars… to do all four wheels. Bent wheels can be repaired. Compared to replacement, it’s cheap. I have an excellent local wheel repair guy. I can get a lot of wheels repaired for the price of that insurance.

You’ll also find that the tire road hazard part with most of these insurance plans is pro-rated with the number of miles/age. In those circumstances, you won’t get full replacement cost.

Don’t buy stuff in the “box”.

My wheel repair shop does not do cracked wheels, they can do bents. I figured if there's a fracture with at least 1 wheel over the course of my 7-years, I will get my money back. Plus the new tire replacement, key fob, windshield and dents, worth it for peace of mind.

I curbed my wheel at less than 800km on the odometer ?. If you use the car as a daily driver i think curb rash will be inevitable.

Fella came to my house and repaired it without even taking the tire off. About 300 bucks.

My last 2 cars had alloys insurance. And I used it. The Dent wizard boys would visit every six months. I have those wheels but no insurance this time. Needless to say I park a foot from the kerb.

I just did this to my rim.... Since this forum is 99% men, I assume no one will admit to doing this themselves. Anyways, I’m just posting for sympathy. Please feel sorry for me.
Yikes, speaking of stereotypes, I think there is more than 1% female on this forum (I could be wrong), also why would men not admit that we had some curb-rash? Another thread just was self-deprecating to the point that they ran out of charge and had to get towed.
I personally had this happen making a u-turn and watching my phone at the same time and got a little 'bump' when the back went over a little. It happens, regardless of gender.
However, no I don't feel sorry for you, you have insurance but I wouldn't anyhow....it didn't happen 'to you', it was your actions.
Thanks for the post about getting 8 cosmetic fixes....I also have the insurance and did not know that, so now if it happens, I won't feel bad getting it fixed up to 8-times.....like you said, you can get back an ROI on that which seems actually pretty reasonable for what we paid.
Anyhow, good luck and wish you well, I just don't know what gender has to do with this post, when we are suppose to treat everyone the same, regardless.

I’d like to let you know this is now a competition because I win. I’m at 198km however you might win in the brains department because I had to Google the miles to km…

Well that one is true... :CWL: However, these 'bags' you speak of do perform a vital function in society and are essential for good hygiene for some. So, I wonder if you are simply stating that these owners are actually quite useful and needed by many......hmmm, interesting.

Let's not get petty and keep this good humoured. He made a fair point, though I understand your comment was made in jest, like how we joke "about the wife" being the one to cause any damage to the car. It's tongue in cheek.

I received a traffic penalty today on a recent (EV) hire car where I stopped in a box junction (temporarily I might add) owing to traffic ahead of me. It was my fault. I shouldn't have entered the box junction and should have waited. It was compounded as my hire car firm then charged an admin fee on top.

But there we are.

Everyone makes mistakes driving no matter who they are or how experienced.

When/if I receive my Taycan GTS, I am expecting one day I will kerb it running 21s. I will get insurance. I will put aside £X amount of money for repairs in anticipation. It's part of ownership.

Of course it was meant as a joke. The curb hit me and I obviously never do anything wrong.

@TaycanHero - thanks for the comment, glad to know my post came across fair, which was the good intent of it.
@Nmoranda - glad you got a laugh out of it. I actually didn't know if you were serious and butt-hurt that everyone didn't jump on and provide sympathy or if you were commenting in jest. That happens a lot on forums when people don't know others personality and where they are coming from. So, I have always defaulted to good-intent and unless someone specifically says that they don't like my post/me, I assume that there is some aspect of levity in their comments and don't take myself too seriously. So, no worries on my end.

I was also thinking of a quick come-back of: "I heard a rumor that Porsche owners are self-centered and attention seeking where they believe the world revolves around them, but if someone speaks truth they simply resort to the lowest common denominator and shut down the conversation by calling the other a disgraceful name which can't be argued". However, I hope you agree, that one was just not as funny and could come across as a little crass and escalate, rather than diffuse and create camaraderie.....in short, just not as funny, but let me know if I made the right decision.

At any rate, it was useful on the 8x repairs and does suck that it happened but I will have to watch out for those 'expanding curbs' that you speak of and am quite impressed that you can't do no wrong....I tend to agree, anyone with a light blue Tayacn, clearly made the right choices in life :like:

I can confirm that rumor!

I’ve officially been given enough love, sympathy and attention today for me to make it through this difficult wait time. ☺

:like: @Nmoranda , glad you got your 'fix'.... not me, I think I will try to keep this thread alive for the next year or so and slowly bring the conversation back around to being about 'me'. In parallel, I am going to go create a few more 'look at me' posts and see if I can get some more affirmation to feed my ego. If that fails, I will just troll the forums and call others derogatory names to feel better about myself as I actually lack self confidence and feel that posting on a forum allows me to be detached enough from social engagement to allow my true, vile self to come out....but I am in denial about that last comment and keep telling myself how important I am and how much people need and value my comments.;)

I believe you converted your remaining battery range (171 miles in this picture) from miles to kilometers. Your odometer is at the bottom of the left dial, states at 2,819 miles or about 4,536 kilometers.
