This thread reminds me of that scene from Willa Wonka when Veruca Salt in her heavy British accent whines “but I want it nowww Daddy!”

Your soul was crushed in 12 days?
Mine would be too, if the car literally died the day I took it home.

Unless I was immediately placed into a working loaner Taycan, I'd be tempted to just nullify the deal and get out.

First day home is supposed to be an exciting, happy day.

I am not sure I have seen a more insensitive, untimely post on this forum.

Your "soul is crushed" because your car has been in the shop for two weeks??? The world is on fire, and a ship full of Porsches recently caught fire, sank, and took 1,000 or so brand new Porsches to the bottom of the Atlantic Ocean, but your "soul is crushed" because your car has been in the shop for two freaking weeks??

You need to take a lesson in compassion, patience, and then read the news. Taycan's have had issues, they take time to get proper repairs. Fact of life.

Quit whining to an Internet forum.
"an internet forum" for Taycan owners, enthusiast. I am amazed how people jump on the righteous horse and make comments founded in their fantasy world. You know NOTHING about me. I laid out facts and did a play on their slogan. I am truly impressed that you are so concerned with Ukraine and that you are selling all your cars to send money to the cause.

Well I wish I had your perfect life where everything goes exactly as planned. :)

Or where you overreact to what, in the grand scheme of things, are really minor inconveniences, at least to the unentitled.

As with some others in this forum, I think the OP should get a lemon lawyer on the phone, stat! Or simply sell the car. It’s the only way to be sure.

I would be upset if this had happened with my car but I would expect a long delay to receive parts for a transmission repair. Understanding that they would need to come from Germany because dealers are not going to stock this type of repair part.

As for the lemon law I don't think it applies here because it needs to be a consistent set of issues over a long period of time. It's likely once this problem is fixed the Taycan will be good to go. Hopefully, they gave him a nice loaner.

You are right, I know NOTHING about you. And, not sure I want to after your immature demonstration today of posting whiney drivel on this forum.

So your car had issues on the first day? Does that suck, yes, but not unheard of. My first Taycan was in the shop for two months in the summer of 2020 due to the early production 12v issues. Did I whine to the forum? No I did not. I shared my experience, and posted how I coordinated with Porsche NA to get fair compensation for my inconvenience. When the repair was resolved I kept the group updated on the steps taken and the timing.

Lower the drama, and maybe people will take you seriously. "Soul crushed????" Seriously??? You need to do yoga, smoke some weed, or maybe go for a long walk to help you relax and not post stupid $hit on the internet.

Even the people who lost cars in the recent car carrier sinking did not act as dramatic as you have. Slogan or not.

I find interesting that nobody says: had similar problems, that's what I did, that's what worked and that's what not. I was expecting such from this forum, to give advice. Instead I get attitude, schooling, and a shit ton of bullshit.

You probably will meet the criteria to lemon the car (usually 30 days out of service in the first year), of course there will be lots of other caveats. At this point you should ask to speak to the porsche centre manager and inform them that you are thinking if lemoning the car.

I hope they have given you a loaner to drive while the car is in the shop.

Once again, lose the drama, and you will be taken seriously. Quite simple.

Also, reading comprehension helps. Read my second paragraph. Go to Porsche NA and escalate. Don't whine to an Internet forum.

This Taycan forum has really turned into “state of the world” forum.

I have a new car sitting in Emden right now. This is my first new Porsche, and I had no idea that because of the current state of the world my expectation of the new car should be so low.

Im very conserved about what’s happening in Ukraine and I pray for them multiple times a day. It seems like at this point our expectations of life should be really low,and it’s probably a good idea I don’t even take delivery. Who am I to take delivery of a six figure car when the world is in this much pain. I’m seriously considering backing out of this purchase and letting some greedy person take the car. I’ll wait till the world is better off and expectations of a 6 figure car can be that it works.

I had a similar issue shortly after delivery. No warning lights/messages just a noise in first gear. The car received a new drive unit/trans. ~8 weeks total and I had a Taycan 4S to drive. I love the car and my dealer is super fantastic. Zero issues other than that.

Apologies in advance for the long entry.

02/24 - Purchased Taycan. Car had issues by the time I arrived home, "Transmission error, Continue driving possible with adjustment", and then "Transmission failure. Park vehicle in a safe place".
02/25 - Car picked by dealership.
02/26 - Dealership cannot communicate with Germany to troubleshoot, servers are down.
02/28 - Dealership cannot troubleshoot until necessary tool is appropriated to remove parts
03/01 - Dealership will order servor motor as that will be the first component to trouble shoot, ETA of part 03/04.
03/07 - Part arrives and troubleshooting begins.
03/08 - Dealership informs me that the part replaced (servo motor) was defective but that additionally the transmission has to be replaced as the issue was not resolved. Expected arrival of transmission from Germany 2 weeks.

Is it acceptable for Porsche dealerships to sell cars they cannot service?
Is it acceptable that they do not disclose that (buyer be aware)?
Can the whole of North America dealership network do not ave a spare part and it has to be delivered from Germany as opposed to be expedited within the 50 states? If that is the case then corporate Porsche made a conscious choice to sell non-serviceable cars without telling their customers!!!!

This car is my dream car. Soul crushed.
My observations, and what the lead tech at my dealer told me, is that all diagnosis and repairs to Taycans must first be monitored and approved by PCNA and their team (as opposed to other Porsche products which the dealer has autonomy in diagnosing and repairing), which delays things, and as with my car, in certain circumstances, they must get Porsche Germany involved which delays things further. My car just had the drivers main display replaced, which took a few days to get, and now needs the "central" computer replaced, which only took three days to get to the dealership (they seem to have replaced these fairly regularly so a part that is in stock). I'm guessing that since the transmission is not a "typical" replacement part for cars on the market since 2020, no US dealer would have them, so that the delay is due to travel from Germany. This is additionally impacted from the Force Majeure that the pandemic and now the war has caused, which may push timelines a bit further. As for the dealership informing you, to a certain degree it is known by all of us, heck there are no cars on lots, chip shortages across the world, and now plants closing production including Porsche, Mercedes and BMW, so for a while, we all have to endure some delays.

Put aside the initial delivery, tell the dealership to treat your pickup from service like they are delivering the car new to you, and start over.

UPDATE: Dealer just called, the central computer actually did not make it to the dealership. Porsche informed the dealership that due to all the issues we have all spoken about, they have no idea when parts from Germany will be sent or arrive in the US. The dealer is going to put my car together with the old computer (it is still drivable) and will let me know when part arrives to bring it back. They said it could be a day or a month etc., there is no ETA, and Porsche can't give them one. Completely understandable, and will just roll with the punches.

Dealers don’t have spare tires let alone complex parts

they also don’t have enough “Taycan certified” technicians, further worsening the problem.
Agreed here. And if you're in NoVA - there's 2 certified Taycan techs between Chantilly and Tysons and it doesn't get much better over the river. In addition, all repairs for Taycans have to be independently approved by PCNA.

The supply chain constraints are real and are affecting every single brand. You'll forget the issues you had now once the car is fixed. I'm waiting on parts for mine too and until then I don't have ALK, ACC, Innodrive, Adapt Regen, Early Warning and Braking or auto high beam control. It's the nature of the beast in 2022.

These cars are not perfect. Knowing this was Porsche's first EV I expected quirks and problems, and the Taycan has delivered. That said, it's still the best car I've ever owned.

I'm picking my car up tomorrow (hopefully) after a full front drive unit replacement. 3 weeks to diagnose, over a month wait for parts and to schedule the service (luckily the car was driveable), and now 3 weeks for the swap. Can't wait to get it back - between the anemic base Macan loaner and other ICE cars at my disposal, nothing else quite compares to the experience of the Taycan.
