Changing build before lock-in date pushes production build to the back of the line?

I was told that if I change my build, even prior to the lock-in date, it will push the build to the end of the production line. Is this true? Or is it because the dealer just doesn't want to redo the paper work?

I don't have an authoritative answer, but I changed things right up until the freeze date and it didn't seem to affect the estimate for scheduled or start production. I thought the whole reason for the significant gap between the freeze date and scheduled for production was to permit changes right up until the last minute where they could be added to the build without disrupting the schedule.

Bottom line, even if it did push the scheduled for production date would you regret not adding the option(s) you are considering?

I think it depends on the changes you want to make. I just tried changing to the Porsche Design clock and the SA told me it will push back delivery by over 6 months from the currently scheduled date.

Normally not but if you add an option that has a supply restriction then yes your place in the queue will slip.

your allocation is your allocation....parts may delay based on availability but having it change the build delivery entirely to the "start over" status would mean you have a new allocation. Doesn't make sense.

Not true indeed. The only thing that can change is that you select certain options that increase build time (like the factory PPF or highly customized interiors), those could push back the completion date, but the estimated start date is set for an allocation and remains roughly the same.
