Hi all, after days of reading & thinking I’ve ordered a ST RWD. My dealer in the UK had 2 new cars ready for June but I want my custom build so I’ll be waiting probably until Q3 this year.

Here is my build: http://www.porsche-code.com/PNSHXZN5

The reason I went for ST RWD over CT4 is that I don’t want to wait the long queue for the CT4, which is estimated for Q1 next year. Otherwise I guess I like the looks of CT even better.

I currently own a Tesla M3 and this will be my first ever Porsche. I know I am sacrificing performance but Porsche is a childhood dream for me so I don’t really care much :)

So in the end I’ll be paying over 18k for the options in a base model. This is literally 25% of the car’s actual price. I am not buying this car to sell soon, but tell me please, am I overdoing it? How is Porsche market in general? What’s the usual common sense in this? Is it too much to add options worth 1/4 of a base car’s actual value.

And not to mention I’m still eyeing truffle interior + sports sound + chrono so it can go even up. It is dangerously endless :)

Ice grey metallic
I was getting a Frozen Blue, wasn’t even thinking about ice grey but then one day I saw this live on the road and that was it. Beautiful - case closed :)

Air Suspension
I am still in between. If the ride is more comfortable I’ll take it, but if it is only for adjusting the ride height then I don’t think I’m keen.

Noise Insulated Glass with Privacy
Coming from Model 3, I know how noisy it can get inside an EV, ironically because it is too quiet so it lets everything in. The music quality deteriorates and we have to speak in higher tones inside the cabin to hear each other. That’s one thing I really don’t like about Model 3 so that’s why I’m opting this option. I don’t want a noisy cabin.

Black partial leather with colour matching trim and Aluminium accents
I think I like partial leather enough. Accent package and aluminium to spice things up in a cost effective way.
Surround View
I heard the rear camera is poor, so opted in for surround view.

Folding & dimming mirrors
These should be standard in any car above 30k

Black exterior trims
Door handles and model designation because it looks cool and feels more customised :)

Driver memory package
Just got it for the curb side assistance. Still thinking about 14 way seats instead.

ACC
For long trips I might use it, and it future proofs the car to some extent for other updates.

Pretty good specs but most say the passenger display is not that useful. Surround camera is a must as it is a wide car. ACC I actually use a bit more on my car, a CT4. Would think it would come with air suspension...I love it on my CT4. I too am thinking whether I should upgrade to a ST GTS or not and keep my CT4. Great cars. Good luck.

About passenger display I’d imagine so but it is the option my wife wants, so it is a must. Think about it like a key to unlock all the other options I want.

I think I got you beat, picking up my car in about 9 hours.

RWD sedan with:
- cherry red, black interior
- 20 wheels
- premium package (US: pano roof, PDLS+, 14-way memory seats, BOSE, lane change assist, seat ventilation, surround view, folding mirrors, ambient lighting, storage pack, ionizer)
- no badge
- sport sound
- big battery
- air suspension
- insulated glass
- tech package (upgrades premium with: HUD, passenger display, remote parkassist, ACC)
- InnoDrive
- 2+1 seats
- heated steering wheel
- bordeaux seat belts
- power charge port
- 150kW 400V

http://www.porsche-code.com/PNNQE9U9

$28530 of options on an $82700 base price, and that's with the packs reducing option cost in the US. No regrets. Some people like performance, I like tech, comfort and style (red with black accents outside, black with red accent inside). You buy the car you want to drive ultimately!

Too many options? On a Porsche? No such thing. Go for it, don't look back, have fun.

Great spec!

Thats what I think as well. It is my first Porsche and I’m buying it for myself rather than the future buyer.

I would always go all wheel drive so wait for a 4.

Passenger screen a limited toy and waste of money.

Air is essential - not simply for adjusting ride height - part of 4D chassis control.

Accent package personal but I'd skip.

Rhombus - no.

Coloured wheel caps - no as you've gone monochrome every where else.

Missing rear axle steer with power steering plus (PSP). PSP at a minimum is essential.

ACC not required IMHO.

Surround view essential.

Black handles look odd - had a loaner in white with black. Don't do it. You can always add later with black PPF.

I ordered a CT4 with 30 k in options (quite similar like Ambroos configuration). For my use and my preferences I prefer a CT4 with more options than a less optioned CT 4S. It will be my daily driver and I know that I will enjoy full leather, Bose, RWS, seat ventilation and massage more than fast accelerations. But I can imagine if the Taycan is a second or third car one can prefer a 4S with less options.

Each to their own, but I think that- with the ST more so than the CT which has black arches and rear screen top shroud- for lighter body colours, black handles improve the side-on appearance by (1) accenting the side line from front to rear lights and (2) breaking up what is otherwise a large area of monotone. (& having seen real examples, I confirm that they look exactly as one might expect). The PPF suggestion is sensible if in doubt or anticipating resale to non-believers.

My Porsche dealer says official Porsche availability is CTs all 2023 as you say but 2WD ST is 4th quarter 2022. With all the uncertainty you might get the car you want at roughly the same time. Wait for a CT. Better value as battery, air suspension and 4WD included in list price so retained value means more expensive to buy but CHEAPER to own.

Cheap essentials are mirrors and driver memory.
Agree 100% with WINGE everything except I never missed steer plus or surround view but accept they are useful and definitely not a waste of money!
Unlike…….
Beware inside tarting up! Rhombus etc.
Standard interior is immaculate.
Don’t need passenger screen, Chrono, ambient or noise!
Don’t bother with insulating glass.
Much quieter than a Tesla.
You can hear a flea trapped inside your Taycan farting at 100mph.
I never minded base stereo. It’s not great but I have been disappointed by Bose.
Saved you loads of money!
You can buy me a pint!
Finally this might an option to save a bit more…?

Sport sound and noise insulated glass are easily dropped and you won’t even notice. If you are concerned at all about final price, start there

Personal choice but it just looks tacky and an unnecessary cosmetic folly. If it were free I'd opt to remove it.

Thanks guys. I think I am changing my order to CT4, whose estimated delivery is slightly later than ST RWD but still in an acceptable time frame.

The final price will be the same but essentially I am getting a car with a higher base value, so hoping it will retain its value better.

I also like the black trims and the rugged look. Plus I think the higher car will provide a bit more comfortable ride. And of course the 4 wheel drive.

Whenever I post in this forum I end up amending my order :D

We have the RWD with many of the same options as yours. Would have swapped the glass for InnoDrive. The passengr display is great for the wife to see her preference while the center display is on Navigation. We bought this car to drive and are on trips with Navigation going all the time. We have the Audi etron 55 SUV as well and the Taycan is so much more efficient. The Taycan can cruise out on the highway at higher speeds without much penality to range. Very happy with this car. The 21" 30 series tires steer almost like a go cart. Everything is so responsive with this car. You should be very happy with your spec.

Good call. Also, IMHO, drop the Passenger Display and the Insualted glass....use the funds for either RAS or full leather. This is a $100k+ car -- feel good by having full leather. Also you can also FOD the Innodrive later so can use that savings for now elsewhere

And while I was a skeptic of RAS, I am regretting not getting it now. I should have listened to the Forum!

Thanks for this. You didn't think the glass helped? I didn't spec so nice to see I wasn't the only one.

Also nice to see you like the Innodrive

Thank you for sharing your experiences
