Hi, I have been running my 4S Cross Turismo for 6 months. The car is truly awesome but I’m disappointed with the mileage from a charge. I was expecting a charge of circa 280 miles and the best I can get to is 220 miles in all differing weather conditions. Once you turn on the air con, heated seats, etc you don’t get anywhere near this.
What’s the general mileage others are getting?
Is this about right or should I be talking to Porsche?
Be great to hear some feedback.
Thanks.

Explain your driving habits ... what kinds of roads are you driving on, and at what kinds of speeds?

General commuting with average 5-30 miles at a time. U.K. A roads and motorways. Nothing to quick and nothing in bad traffic. Just general everyday kind of stuff.

190-220 miles here in 50-65F conditions generally, I don’t baby it but I’m also not speeding anywhere. My home built EV goes farther on a charge with a 76kWh battery.

I did eek out almost 270 miles on a road trip in ideal conditions when the car was brand new. 4S CT with 20s.

Have you tried the Range Calculator interactive tool on the Porsche website? With default settings, it predicts 219 miles. You can adjust wheel size, outside temp, aircon setting, % of City roads /Country roads / Motorway.

No I haven’t but thanks for the tip. But looking at what you say I am getting what is expected but when I ordered the car the information I read was more than this. Thanks again.

I have a 2022 model CT4 (20" wheels) - it's done 3500 miles - now it's a bit warmer and battery temp is up overall I'm getting quite a bit more than the 230/240 I was getting in winter..
On recent longer journeys the Info. screen shows 3.3mi/kwh - around town 2.8 mi/kwh - battery temp is around 35 degrees.
I drive in range mode 75% of the time and as it's the UK a/c on Eco is fine. Rarely use the heated seats.
Not heavy footed but a spirited driver.
I'm certainly now getting over 260 miles/ charge and on another well known recent run to Devon (225 miles) set off with 95% and arrived with 15% left (80% used) - so circa 270-280 on a run. I've done this run a few times now in the Taycan. The route was 50/50 A roads and motorway.
I'd talk to your dealer and have a software check done.
I had a few small software bugs and left mine in the dealer for 24 hours and it's been really good all around since.

On a regular basis I charge to max. 85% and I never supercharge (250-350kw) , I just use the 7kw at home and the odd 100 or 50kw to top up en route - I know a guy who's a senior electronics & battery engineer for Jaguar and he was very cautionary about regular fast charging when it comes to battery capacity and longevity - he advised to trickle (7kw) as much as you can.

Is the 220 miles from 100% down to 0% (extrapolated)? Or what you see on the display after a 100% charge? Raw numbers on a typical charge (started with x%, drove y miles and ended with z%) would be helpful. I have a RWD and my last charge started with 85%, drove 172 miles and recharged at 18%. A good part of this was local driving at low speed but frequent starts and stops.

Extrapolated mileage for this driving session: 172 miles / (85% start state of charge minus ending state of charge) = 256 miles of range. On longer trips I’ve seen as high as 285 miles extrapolated.

Best to harvest results from UK owners for a more like for like comparison (US ranges are always higher - 300 miles+ in some cases from warmer locales).

In my case MY21, 4S, PB+, 20" wheels, 12000 miles from new, 16 months old, all recall updates applied,:

Reported range before driving

85% SOC in winter months 190 miles
100%, SOC in winter months 218 miles
85% SOC in summer months, 220 miles
100% SOC in summer months, 240 - 250 miles and a one time peak of 280 miles

Most miles driven on motorways (little opportunity to regenerate) in 125 miles stretches.

Overall consumption shown below which I think is pretty good. 83.7 kWh usable battery capacity suggests an overall range average to date of 259.47 miles (3.1 miles/kWh):

The Porsche range calculator confirms that I am getting what is expected. It’s just that I was expecting a lot more. Still love the car tho.

It's probably due to the short journeys. If you only drive 15-30 miles at a time you get the downside efficiency of the car getting the cabin up to temp, the battery warming up etc, without benefitting from the upside once that's all been completed. If you drive longer trips with the average consumption data on, you'll see consumption gradually going down before stabilising after around 60/70 miles of driving. You'll also see much better range when we get to July and the real Summer.

Your mileage will climb now with higher temps. Dont worry.
I have driven electric vehicles since 2017 so I am used to the big variables.
Dont worry about using a heated seat, it's the low battery temp and the HVAC
that lunches the range in winter, even with the UK standard heat pump.
In very hot climates the battery is super heated and ready to go.
In UK battery has to heat up a bit even in summer so better range happens on a
longer trip. But if its just a pleasantly warm UK day you dont need the aircon, just a pleasant waft of fresh air in Eco Plus mode so that helps range where in Texas or New South Wales the Aircon has to stay on FULL in summer!
When I am trying to challenge myself to do 300 on a nice UK summers day even driving gently the car starts off at 3 miles per KW. A bit like an ICE it is less efficient on shorter journeys.
If you cruise in Range mode with Eco Plus at 60 ish it will get to 4miles per KW (or the daft indicated 25Kw per 100 miles) after 20-30 miles when the battery reaches optimum temperature and that is when the Range goes up and up.
I appreciate that that is not how you always want to drive a Taycan. If I am hooning (to use a wonderful Ozzy expression) on interesting quiet roads I can get my guessometer maximum range down to 200 no problem.
On a busy British motorway I just sit back and relax and soak up the magnificent environment that is the interior of a Taycan and play with Apple Music and all the trip computer info.
Trying to get 4 miles per KW on on a long motorway trip is a challenge that relieves the boredom for me.
As long as you are not in a hurry you can actually save time if cruising means you do 1 less charge stop and I would rather spend another 30 mins in a Taycan rather than a motorway service station!
Slightly slower uphill, slight acceleration and coasting downhill, NEVER use the brakes and NEVER use regen on a mileage challenge.
Try it, its fun!
I do this when I do a return journey to Silverstone for the Porsche Driving Experience.
The HUGE contrast between the commute and the track driving just shows what an amazingly capable all round car the Taycan is.

Does auto-regen add any meaningful range?

Best regen is derived from braking and not the overrun regen generated when you switch this on / off / auto.

In my experience the on / auto overrun regen doesn’t do a lot and regeneration from braking adds a few miles if you try hard enough!

Coasting is much more efficient in my experience.
