I'm thinking of choosing Frozen Blue for my order but struggling to see the car in the flesh in this colour. So would appreciate feedback.

1. Is this a full gloss finish? Or satin?
2. How does the colour differ in the dark and bright sunlight?
3. Is the metallic effect a silver or does it flip another colour?

If feels like a real gamble to order a colour from pictures and videos only.

Thanks all

Both are metallics (clearly stated on the configurator) with a clear coat finish and so not satin / satin Matt ,- similar finish to Carrera White.

Go to your dealership as they will have metal colour swatches of a reasonable size. Take them outside to view.

If future resale is a concern factor this into your decision making process - there aren't many examples for a reason.

Agreed a bit daring but I did own a Yellow Mettalic Exige so I have a history of being daring. But for me a GTS needs a little daring colour. I was going for Mamba Green but have compromised. Frozen Berry not keen on.

The other options I like are all dark colours and would prefer a lighter colour. Other options are Cherry and Gentian. Not keen on Biege, Grey, Black etc. so this are all out for me. I like Neptune but seen this in the flesh and being a flat colour means it is a bit dull but probably a more daring colour than the frozen blue.

I saw the swatch of Frozen Blue and it's not that bold at all in my oppinion. But Porsche buyers are so super conservative unlike Lotus buyers for example.

I think in the main Porsche buyers have one eye on resale, you’re dealing with bigger numbers than Lotus for one thing. I’ve owned 911’s since the mid 1990’s and can’t count the number of times a salesman has offered advice on colour, ‘stay away red’, ‘doom blue’, ‘Jewish racing gold’, to name a few.

I think you should have what you want but go into it with your eyes open. My delayed new car has resulted in too many hours trawling through sites looking at used Taycans and it’s obvious that colours like Frozen blue, berry and mahogany fetch less and sit longer. I have my suspicions about mamba and cherry as well, but the evidence is less clear.

My personal favourite is ice grey, but think I’d rather put the money into another option and settle on carrera or silver, just my view.

Exige / sports cars get away with bold colours (any) but the Taycan is a big car and so lots of metal and therefore colour on display.

Agreed. I thought Frozen Blue was being safe ish. The other way of looking at it is the car will be a little rarer so even if there are less people out there liking the colour there are less available.

Rarity vs desirability = they do not in terms of cars in production IMHO

Personal choice at the end of the day. Strong argument for buying for yourself and not someone else.

There will always be a buyer at the end of the day and when all said and done you may not be able to easily discern what value is associated to the colour compared to all other possible options on the car.

Agreed. I think you have to put your own choice first then consider the resale value. I'm specing the car with all the desireable options such as rear steer, Innodrive ACC etc; so spec wise it would be attractive to the next buyer. Also it's a GTS so sticking to the standard Race Tec interior which I believe is also a safe bet. So colour is my daring option.

Interior is a different conundrum - a lot of folk don’t like Racetex / Alcantara for fear of wear and up keep!

Innodrive isn’t a key consideration as it can be added later as long as you have ACC given it is software. Neither are as desirable as you might think and are problematic.

I realise this but it's a GTS so I want the GTS wheels and interior. Don't spec those and to me it's not a GTS. Also my mileage is likely to be no more than 10k kms a year so I'm not really worried and wear and tear. No kids either and I will have a boot liner for the dogs.

I have seen both colors on the road…and they look great in person. I cant comment on resale per se but I do think that both colors read as somewhat feminine to many….especially Frozen Berry. That could ultimately impact resale depending on the market you are in.

I still maintain that all of the Taycan colors are great. There are safer choices but those are also, by definition, main stream.

My worry is I've not see one in person

Very happy FB owner here.
1. It's standard gloss finish.
2. I'm surprised how little it changes with lighting conditions, maybe the blue gets slightly more intense in full sun.
3. It is silver flaked metallic, however it's such a fine grain that you'd need to get within touching distance to realise it's not a "pure" colour. I don't think it looks silvery under any conditions. Maybe the non-base white has similar properties?

I had doubts even after seeing samples, but I was lucky enough to find a dealer not too far away who had 2 real examples, and it was love at first (proper) sight to the point that if it had been removed from the standard paint options I'd have been prepared to pay for it as a PTS.

I'm another in the "there's no bad Taycan colour" camp- I appreciate that many prefer a sensible generic premium German car colour, but OTOH if you feel it's more in the fun sportscar category, then have fun with the colour (as many 2 and 2+2 seater Porsches do). The Taycan can carry that look if you maximise the black trim options (incidentally I think that the CT body helps with the roof spoiler and wheel arch trims).

My most fun car before the Taycan was a Lancia Integrale- it was very yellow, which enhanced its value and got loads of complimentary comments. In the 4 months I've had the Taycan, it's been getting more compliments than the Lancia- and most of them are about the colour.

As to the opinions of resale- when you're spending this sort of money, please don't compromise on getting exactly what you want to try and guess what the resale market wants. At the moment, it seems more likely that the absence of Bose, electronic steering column adjustment or matrix headlights might be a more significant factor than colour choice.

By the way, what's the Frozen Berry question?
I've only seen one for real- a GTS saloon, showroom model that wasn't there long (presumably sold). It had lots of gloss black accents and looked great. I posted about it, I guess somewhere in the Frozen Berry thread.

Frozen Berry is not for me. I really like Frozen Blue but doesn't look like I'm going to get to see one before ordering so do I tqke the risk or de-risk and order a different safer colour like white.
