Hello All,

First post on here after viewing the forum for a few weeks, so firstly hello all ?

I'm self employed and use a limited company, after speaking with my accountant a brand new electric car is the way to go to take advantage of the relevant HMRC tax regulations and benefits. So financially this looks the best opportunity I'll ever get too actual buy a car I've only ever dreamt of.

Porsche I'm looking at is the Taycan or Taycan 4s with performance battery pack, a few additional features like 21 inch alloys, 4+1 seat, heated seats etc which I was very surprised were not standard features with such an expensive car but thats a different story I guess.

Question I have is where is the best place to get business PCP deals from and what would constitute a good deal ? Im looking at emailing local and wider Porsche dealers in England and even Scotland as I believe current waiting lists are massive and wait times are 6 months plus if you're lucky. Also I believe there is a 2023 software update but don't know if that has any bearing on new orders taken will be out soon.

Just wanted to get anyone's thoughts or recommendations on how to go about getting the best business PCP deal and if going via Porsche dealers is the best option or if there are viable alternatives ?

Any advice or steer would be greatly appreciated

Thanks

Nils

I'm paying cash via my business so can't recommend any financing options, though you should expect quite eye watering interest rates by the time you actually finance the car.

Porsche PCP is averaging around 8%. You could probably find it cheaper via a PCP specialist, but don't expect interest rates to drop in the next 12 months and even if they do, it doesn't mean interest rates on borrowed money will fall. Era of cheap money is over, cash is king again.

Your other financing options are salary sacrifice scheme; or giving yourself a director loan and buying the car as a personal expense. It just means you cannot keep the car longer than 9 months after year end save extortionate personal and corp taxes, and if the car depreciates heavily, you will need to cover that with personal money to pay back your directors loan.

Porsche and standard features is an oxymoron! They are one of the most profitable car companies for a reason. It says a lot where you have to option an auto-dimming mirror and electric wing mirrors, while on a Toyota Yaris that comes as standard...

You should shop around but only to find out if that dealer can deliver your car quicker. PCP will be pretty much the same across the board, which is why you should research and find a specialist broker.

Delivery times are around 12-15 months for everything other than a GTS ST, so you might need to plan for tax/financial year 24/25 - the software update is irrelevant and recent models will get it anyway, so not something to even think about.

Heated seats are standard but only in the front - be careful as the option 'Heated front and rear seats' simply means adding the rear. Check the standard specification for your variant on the configurator first.

Porsche Finance (VW) is probably a good place to start but you may find the APR slightly higher.

All cars have the MY23 software update available to them and many will have it applied by now. Any new order will have this by default (of course). By the time you get your allocation then car you may well be looking at MY24 (Jul'22 onwards for Oct delivery) which will have further updates. The uPdate that has been discussed exhaustively on this forum relates to all MY's (From MY20 to MY23) which effectively brings all MYs up to MY23 which is cool and brings more visible benefits to those who perhaps don't already have MY23 software spec from the get go.
