I can't see any upside for the 21s other than looks.

But a good few downsides (cost, range, tyre choice, tyre cost, likelihood of damage etc).
Sadly all true, but the first wheel available for a Taycan I actually liked, and most I actively dislike, were the Cross Turismo 21".
I am almost embarrased to admit that had they not been available I probably wouldn't have gone to the Porsche dealer at all, and missed out on driving a car that turned out to be way better than I expected.
Now I like the standard GTS wheels, which aren't available for a non-GTS as standard and my dealer is reluctant to order the winter tyres on them for a non-GTS but, luckily I suppose, I now have a video of my car at the dealer and decided a grey wheel, only available with winter tyres, will look spiffing on my car so am ordering them.

If practicality of 20" ends up outweighing the looks of the 21" CT I can always get summer tyres on the 20" rims in the future. I intend to keep the car a long time.

Potholes are a nightmare, I would be inclined the have the wheel checked when you have the new tyre fitted, it may have warped under the impact.
Be careful doing that! A thread on here from a while back, about someone who damaged their wheel. Porsche then made him change various suspension elements as that was the protocol, from memory they said £20k job and lost the car for an age.

I wouldn’t take it to Porsche Bob, just a decent tyre shop should be able to check the wheel is safe.

This is my reason to like it. The entrance to my house is quite tight and having the rear swing round when I turn in will make a vastly bigger difference than whatever the turning circle is.
It is better for both tight corners and high speed stability too.
It was a no brainer for me but I am really into vehicle dynamics ;)
I was able to test both this week. Mine has RWS the loaner I got for 2 days did not (I think it also didn’t have PSP).

Both were nice to drive but clearly different.

Mine was lighter to drive the steering feel was heavier on the loaner. Turning at slow speeds is clearly easier. I have a roundabout I do 2-3 times a days. First try with the loaner I was too much on the outside. Second time it was ok again because I knew what was coming.

High speed stability is difficult to feel. Didn’t really feel a difference. But I only did a small piece a highway and only at 100 km/h.

I was in a very tight underground parking in Antwerp yesterday and it really amazing what turns are possible.

The standard GTS wheels are matte black painted Turbo S design wheel of the CT. Maybe you can find someone to do that ?

My colleague has just put on his winter tires and I think he has the ones you discribe. Never seen them before. Vesuvius like color. They look nice.

No regrets having the 20" wheels, hit a huge pothole on Thursday night, was surprised the alloy survived it however the tyre did not fare so well.

I do a lot of mileage so the extra range is helpful too.

If you’re UK go after the road service, take a picture of the depth using a ruler and put a claim in

I'm glad I have RAS, but I've found a couple of downsides:
After 6 months ownership, I often don't manage to reverse mine through a narrower than mirrors-out garage door and keep parallel first time with the internal wall of the garage, unless I'm lined up perfectly outside. Despite the camera trajectory lines and taped lines on the floor, I'm not great at predicting the rear wheel trajectory so often need to stop part way and come back out a few feet to realign. I don't find it easy as my previous, wider, Cayenne;
When pulling out having been parallel parked tight to a kerb, care is needed to avoid the rear wheel steering in to it.

This is an excellent point. My garage is fairly tight as well. Curious if reversing is becoming more intuitive over time or if its a nail biter with each adventure…

To my surprise, after >100 instances, I'm not finding it any easier- though it's more of an inconvenience (having to shuffle back and forth a bit) than feeling that I'm in danger of hitting anything. It'd be easier if I didn't leave the mirrors folded in after crossing threshold- I could use the side view to see the lines I've taped to the floor- but I don't that because I don't trust myself to remember to fold them in when heading out (forwards).

Ouch. Did you manage to get a replacement tyre without too much of a problem? Via Porsche or a tyre shop?

I would fold the mirrors in and then have something very obvious to remind you to fold them out again next journey.
I had a reflective arm band (for running or something) that you could just slip over the mirror or the steering wheel...something like that.

As for the lines on the garage floor, I was going to use those LED light strips channeled into the garage floor mats, like Airport landing lights!
Cars too big though, so it lives on the drive.

This is my biggest concern, I hadn’t thought about the other but with the rear wheels probably steering proportionally to the front getting used to predicting reversing into a parking space may take me a long time.

I was worried about damage and comfort and also didn't feel like paying for the upgraded brakes, so I ended up going with 19" aftermarkets. They are pretty controversial on this forum but I have no regrets with them. They don't look as sleek as the 21s but I have no complaints; my car drives like butter and I regularly attain 300+ miles with the smaller battery.

Regarding the RWS, I don't have it and have never seen a need for it. I came from a Tesla Model S and there are many times where I had to make 3 point turns in that car where I don't have to in the Taycan.

Was worried about getting the 21” Mission’s Painted in body color both because of damage and having to often replace tires.
However, I felt the look of them made the car pop so I optioned them and did not option the wheel insurance (although I thought about it)

What I did option was the Surround View which has saved me from ever hitting a curb even in tight parking garages. 18,000 miles in and not even a scratch on the Mission’s. Also just had to change Rear Tires for the first time last week - absolutely no regrets getting the 21” Missions and declining wheel insurance.

Now, for the record - Southern California roads only have pot hole issues after major rains, which are infrequent.

I think Porsche quote max. deflection 2.8 degs- I wondered whether that would be worthwhile, but it allows quite enough deviation from my expected trajectory of the rear during close manoeuvring (even with reference to the trajectory lines overlaying the rear camera view).
