So this morning I email my SA to "Freeze it like a Frozen Berry!" And less than 2 hours later I suddenly realize that a GTS with my options is only $8k more, if I drop the Tech package, keep ACC and worry about Innodrive and ALK later. And even if I keep the package and Inno/ALK it's still under $10k more. I realize this could totally change my allocation slot and production timeline, but if it was doable, would upgrading to GTS be the right move?? My options on the 4S are about 37% of base, and with the GTS it's closer to 15%.

Aaahhh!! Now I'm stressed out.

You can't go wrong with either, honestly. Every Taycan is an amazing car, but for the 8k I'd see if I could get a GTS allocation as well.

I’d go for the GTS and leave off innodrive and alk.

Either car I’d leave off Innodrive and ALK. I’d compare the price with those removed from both and then decide if it’s worth it to you.

If the allocation/timeline change is reasonable enough for you, absolutely go for the GTS!

This is pretty much what I did 9 months ago - ordered a 4S then switched to a GTS after realizing a lot of the options I've spec'd on the 4S were standard equipment on the GTS (like sport design, sports chrono, black trim and badges, ptv, performance battery, racetex headliner, PDLS+ in black, light strip in black). Luckily my timeline didn't really change too much because my GTS order arrived in late November, only 2 months after when the 4S was originally promised.

Ok, update. He got back to me, GTS would put me back on the waitlist. I figured as much. I was shocked I got an allocation in less than 3 months as it was, so I don't want to push my luck.

My options were mostly aesthetic/interior plus stuff like the matrix LED lights. I'll just focus on the fact I won't have the little sport clock thing on the dash, as sorry, I don't like that :D.

Thanks guys! I know it's gonna be perfect either way!!

Oh thank you, I did search but should have thrown in the "VS" heh. Plus, I was rushing. That was very helpful! I'm always in a "value shopper" mindset, whether it's a cheap item or an expensive one. So suddenly I felt like, if I'm getting $25k more of stuff I might or might not want for only $10k it's the right move!

Value is obviously subjective when it comes to the cars we love. So I think we're all in agreement here!

I looked at dropping from the Turbo to the GTS when it first came out because I wanted an ST rather than CT. But then they released a Turbo ST so that’s what I got (and it’s great). What I found with the GTS was that I had to make loads of changes to have it how I wanted it and it didn’t make sense.

I think, if you look at the way the GTS is spec’d and think ‘yep, that’s the way I want it’ then order one. But if, on the other hand, you start changing loads of stuff, i.e. leather for Race-tex , you’re better off, starting with a 4S and adding what you want.

Leather is a £360 price difference or thereabouts - hardly a deal breaker.

I'm basically where you were 6 months (hopefully not more) ago. I just put in for my allocation last week and I've been going back and forth. The way I saw it was this:
- I wanted AWD, the 4s has it
- I have kids and a wife and won't be tracking a lot - the increase in capability doesn't benefit me 98% of the time
- I felt more comfortable getting things like the PTV+ and PDCC and keeping my OTD price closer to my original budget

Right now I feel great about it... I heard someone say it's a great car regardless, and I think that line hols. WRT to resale value, I don't normally put much into that. Most Porsche owners I know (biased sample) have had their cars for over a decade and are still going strong and I'd really like to join that group. If I was SUPER worried about trim, I'd go GTS and then, a few weeks later, upgrade to Turbo! lol. I think I'm happy planting my flag on the 4S.

That being said, come back to me when my freeze date passes! Congrats!
