Hello all,

Looking for a bit of expert advice here. After receiving my CT4S just before Christmas following a 16-month wait, I’ve started to experiment with the various assistance systems a bit more. Loving the car!

My question - with Lane Keep Assist activated, I get all of the expected visual indications and I think i can detect a very subtle nudge to the steering wheel if I let it drift out of lane, but there seems to be no warning noise whatsoever. I’ve found the settings in PCM and set them to ‘loud’ but still no difference.

What does everyone else experience? Is the steering input very subtle, and do you get any warning noise? I’m thinking of upgrading to Active Lane Keeping via FoD, but I’d like to know the LKA is working properly first.

I personally don't use the system as it is fundamentally flawed and at times dangerous. Mine is permantley switched off.

When in operation and you lane drift you get a tug on the wheel to correct and an audible rumbling sound.

Too many situations where the car performs a dangerous correction when it losses sight of the road markings so mind how you go. Steering input is not always subtle and can be quite dramatic depending on the situation. The correction is automatically performed for you. Imagine narrow country roads, poor road markings, corner and an oncoming vehicle...been there done that and therefore I disabled the system.

ALK I don't have as this requires Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC) and would imagine it will suffer the same limitations and challenged with poorly marked roads and speed limit changes.

LKA makes sound if you are coming close to the edge of the road (marking lines on the left or on the right side). At the same time you’ll see red lines on your dashboard.
You’ll feel correction on steering wheel when you’ll (almost) cross the line.
Some people do not like that, but i do.
Otoh, i haven’t tried ALK and i’m not planning to do it. Why not? I don’t know, but i’m not driving on highways a lot, so i don’t use ACC.

Good thing is that you can try LKA 3 months for free. If you don’t like it you can just cancel before 3 months and don’t pay anything. Same for Innodrive.

I have ALK but only turn it on on longer highway trips. On country roads I don’t like the automatic steering feeling. Don’t know if I would pay for it but somehow it is still active after the 3 months free trial without being billed for it. Same for PID.

LKA should give a sound first and than a correction like mentioned by @W1NGE and @B61

Thanks for the replies. That's what I see (the red line on the dash) but I don't think I get any sound. I'm only using it on the motorway as a back-up, wouldn't be using it on country roads etc. Just really trying to make sure it's working properly at this stage (before I try the free 3 months of ALK) as it doesn't seem to be.

It’s a kind of buzzing sound.

Indeed you have a buzzing noise before the steering wheel correction starts, also you can make the warning lights in the mirror brighter or darker too. Ideal for highway and rainy evenings,

With LKA I get a noise that kind of sounds like a frog with a deep voice. Maybe I’ll try to get a recording today.

Ok, that's helpful, think I have heard the frog thing but it's very quiet. Will try it again tomorrow. Thanks guys.
