I can’t believe that people are still lining up and waiting for vat periods of time to buy a taycan I’ve had mine for over a year great car but the battery is no where near as promised , mine was £115k 4s ct now I’m getting bids of 72-77k and it’s done just over 5k , , anyone with one on order reading this that is actually buying rather than salary sacrifice or leasing would be mindful in thinking there blowing more than any other , Tesla are better performing same as Audi, porsche is actually;y the worst ev for risidual at the moment , there a great car but 35-40k in 1 year I can think of better things to blow on , my re Dawn hasn’t blown a single pound , my mrs defender has blew roughly 2-3 in a year yet the porsche has truly collapsed with a long line of punter desperate to get one , can’t believe we have ran out of coffee this morning ?‍♂

I think another factor at play is that the Taycan is no longer the only premium EV option
This does rather depend on what one is looking for though.
For me the only other alternative was the Audi E-Tron GT which was not as nice to drive and didn't have a model with a rear door.
Up to today there is still no car in production, EV or otherwise, which appeals to me enough to consider buying it.

I've yet to see anything that would satisfy my requirements (on either a practical or frivolous level) as well as my Taycan CT does, and certainly nothing else excites me enough to have separated me from my money, so I'm thankful that I'm "at peace" in that regard and not regretting my choice or imagining changing within at least the next 5 years.
But I suspect that we are atypical of the £100k EV buyer.

Remove the VAT from the purchase price and then it doesn't look so bad. Porsche will always have a higher residual than most other marques. Bids from webuyanycar, carwow, others will be deliberately low right now due to market conditions. A Porsche dealer (depending) will offer consistently more.

Flipping a car within its first year (unless ultra desirable) is generally financial suicide.

Overspeccing a car is never wise either - many options have no perceived value - alway better to go the next trim level up.

Take a look later in the year and some of these anomalies will have settled down. That said EVs are under the cosh just now in a market controlled by the trade who obviously only have their own self-interests to feed.

Yeah. I am still waiting for my allocation
Expand your search nationwide perhaps. That is what it took for me to get mine. Locally I would probably still be on a waitlist, though I haven't checked since September last year when I found the allocation I wanted. That said, perhaps with supply increasing and demand decreasing, perhaps Porsche dealers will start trading allocations again, like they used to in the past. I did get a nice trip out of it however.

I am close to my build being set, but looking at the Porsche website its making a little nervous. Today I find 435 Taycan's for sale, just a few weeks back it was more like 40. There are 150 Taycans at a price cheaper than I am ordering, many of which are a model up. Nothing to worry about, or is there a real problem? Does this many cars being on sale kill the residuals?
If you're looking to save money and worried about depreciation, before you commit to a new car, search through the used ones see if you can find a cheaper car which satisfies your needs. If so, buy that, it already took a hit of initial depreciation. If you cannot find one, buy new and don't worry about depreciation - enjoy the car. If you feel you have leverage due to a shortage of people buying new, negotiate a better deal.

Yea, I had one of those too. He left the dealership a year later, while I was still on the waitlist for an allocation. :( I did find a few good SA's in my nationwide search by the way.

New model Taycan is around the corner as well.
I'm just as happy as I was when the car was new.
Man, still enjoying this car so much!
Best car I've ever had. ?
Can't think of any other car that drives and looks better imho.
Nope, this one is not for sale.

Bingo. I never even considered getting an EV or a Porsche and then the salary sacrifice scheme came along meaning I get a £100k RWD more or less half price.

But this is a lease? Or are you the owner at some point (no idea how this works in the UK)?

Nope. Only lease. Lease payment deducted from gross salary before taxation and national insurance applied. No point owning with such a discount.

That’s crazy, that brings a Taycan RWD into BMW3 Merc C class territory. So gross salary as nett monthly payment? Here we need to add 25% of car value to income, which you are then 51% tax liable for. Every year recurring for the lease.

22%, but still a lot of money. NL is good with squeezing their people for taxes when we dream about cars. I recently saw that in the US, a 911 GT3 costs as much as our base 911 carrera :CWL: o_O

It seems the used car market is finally reverting back to normal. Big luxury sedans have always done horribly in depreciation, probably one of the worst categories of cars in that respect. Recently on bring a trailer, a 1500 mile M5 Competition sold for $20k less than MSRP ($15k less after buyer fees)

I’m more just slighltly annoyed since I ordered my car in Feb 2022 and didn’t get it (a MY2022) until Dec 2022. I know my car will depreciate a lot in the long term but given the market has softened also could’ve picked a lightly used one up cheaper now. If it wasn’t for the tax credit I probably would have done that instead and cancelled my ordered car
