I charged my Taycan at home. The cable would not release. I had to pull the small knob behind the hinge of driver's side door to release the cable.

Now the Driver's side Charging Port Door will not close and the Passenger side charging port door won't open.

Anyone come across this? Any suggestions?

I am out of the city until after New Years and will not able to go to dealer until then.

Interesting you needed to resort to the cable release to detach the charging pulg. Is the vehicle totally dead (can't otherwise open trunk or frunk with key)? If so, follow the procedures elsewhere in the forum to jump-start the 12V system. That should solve both charge door / cable issues.

No the vehicle is not dead, in fact, it is completely drivable - everything else is normal.

Page 86 in the US manual item 4 mentions to visit your dealership after closing the door.
Maybe this is inferring that the dealer has to secure it.
Does not distinguish if this is for the manual or eletric charge port door.

I imagine you tried to close it via the center consul page 81 US manual?

Yes I tried closing the port door using center consul as well. Thank you

I am just driving around with the driver's side port open. I was hoping it would be a simple fix like a fuse or something.

Well indeed there is a fuse for the motor (one on the driver side fuse box for that motor, one on the passenger side fuse box for the passenger side motor). Assuming you checked that and the fuse is OK, no other ideas from me - I wonder if there is some interlock - if one charge port is open, the other one can't be...?

Possibly the right footwell fuse box Row A #11.
Charge port sensor (left hand drive).

That's the sensor. Row B #3 is the motor.

Both sides dead. I had to drive home with it open. Seriously what are these cars made of, cardboard?

This looks very similar to what happened to me albeit only twice in 1.3 years of ownership. After at home AC charging the door wouldn’t close as you describe - mine would attempt to close but bounce back half way as though encountering an obstruction and stay open. When this happens an error will display in the dash saying error with RHS door and DC charging not possible - simply a ‘linked’ issue as the PCM thinks the issue is with the RHS door when in fact due to the LHS door staying open.

I basically solved it each time by toggling back and forth the plug release/charge finish button in the LHS port (not via the dash controls) and/or finger slide on fin to initiate the attempt to close each time and what seemed to work was inserting my hand to abruptly stop the closing process (before it stopped itself) I.e. physically stopping the door from closing with an open palm and/or fiddling with the door itself as it closed - after 3-5 cycles it fixed itself and no issues since. Perhaps this physical intervention may be simply resetting the sensor back to default - guessing!

Most probably a faulty door sensor and indeed nothing at all to do with the 12v battery issues described elsewhere - my 12v is perfectly fine too and everything else working as it should in the car.

As my dealership could not replicate this however on last visit (go figure!), they did nothing about it but I will be certain to take a video if it ever happens again as proof (screenshot of error in dash apparently not proof enough!).

Give it a go - all that said, your situation may still be different if in fact both doors are staying open!

You need to finish the sequence, plug a cable back in, let it settle status, push the stop button next to it.

Yeah in my case (can’t speak specifically to the OP) it was just not that simple (needed multiple attempts including physical intervention) - most def a sensor issue and has being reported elsewhere with sensors being replaced.

Could as well be, i’ve passed on the sliding doors, I did not like the plaquettes on them and it’s just another point of failure.

I actually love them (function and looks) and with the side grills blocked due to their motor I don’t get any dirt through that area - this rare issue for me as I say happened only twice in 1.3 years and resolved itself with minor intervention - otherwise they work perfect day in day out but yes I’ll still push for the dealership to check my sensors next visit :)!
