So 50 more hp and removal of vmax for €5900 on a 4S?
I suspect the 4S is already close to the limit of the smaller rear rotor so less potential than 4 and GTS.

Too many to list. Includes a MY23 Taycan RWD

Wonder how much (if at all) a rwd would gain. Don't think they offer the software yet. Then again, there's a point where just getting a higher tier is easier than start tuning the heck out of a specific car.

But it's cool to know stuff like that is coming out. The always on overboost is interesting (more than the extra hp)

The thing with electric motors is they can output more than their maximum steady power for as long as it takes to destroy them with heat.

I would imagine these people are serious but how hot do they allow it to get and for how long and therefore how long can their tuned power be used?

Questions people used to tuned IC engines probably won’t ask…

Great point.

They state that all safety parameters are retained, so I’d imagine the odd launch control or a hot lap or two on a shorter track would be fine, but the repeated launches Porsche touted when releasing the Taycan, or even multiple laps around a track would trigger built in protections and dial back performance.

The "safest" and possibly easiest mod might be to trigger overboost on full throttle, for the 2.5 seconds (or whatever it is) followed by a "cooling off" period. I don't know how practically useful a power upgrade could be without hardware changes, unless regulated in very short bursts (my personal experience of standard Turbo and Turbo S was that battery temperature management could drastically dial back power within 7 minutes of fast track use).

We also now know what is possible and for how much. Come on Porsche, we know you are reading this and want to offer some FOD stuff. What‘s you offer?

That is an impressive upgrade for €5900 to bring a 4/4S up to turbo power.

I think battery thermals would remain the limiting factor. Motors can run hot and just lose efficiency over 100C. Invertors and electronics would be the next limit at 150C. From my past data logs on the track, motor and invertor (I assume ElDrive) temps plateau or have lower increases than the battery temp (BMCe). Battery temps need a ton more cooling capacity than the car has. Still manageable for the 15 min session logged below though.

Do you think/trust that this company did extensive testing of their product on each Taycan variant, including long term durability testing? If not, why would you even consider slapping it on your $150,000 car?

Seriously, before I’d even consider it, I’d want to see long term testing of it (like 100,000 miles) on my variant, with documentation of temps and wear on all critical parts.

What form does this upgrade take? Is is reflashing some ECU(s)? Does it add or replace any hardware (if so what)?

EDIT: Nevermind, it's a firmware re-flash of motor electronics ECU. Video here how to remove it from the car.

According to their site it enables the launch mode boost permanently.

Now another question, can these guys enable matrix headlights for US market car? Not worried about warranty issues on that one.

Interesting that those docs quote 40c and 45c battery temp as threshold for avoiding excessive battery ageing, compared with Porsche's apparent limit of 55c. Have you noticed any permanent degradation from your sessions exceeding those thresholds for 5+ minutes? (I used Porsche's own vehicles) I'm guessing that fast charging alone could see up to 55c.

I would absolutely not buy this for the reasons you suggest. But it‘s also clear there is something left on the table, Porsche knows it and are talking about FOD options. Let’s get the offer out there Porsche.

If Porsche offers this option as FOD I would order it on my 4 CT. Would be perfect. Maybe first a 3 months free trial and then monthly until my lease ends in 3 years. I would only do this when offered by Porsche for warranty issues.

What would Porsche charge? It just software. The difference between CT 4 and 4S is 18,000 euro in Belgium. For 5-6000 euro I would probably do it and it would be easy money for Porsche.

They are not quite bringing the 4/4S up to the 700HP Turbo "over boost" levels, but it's much closer than I thought.

The 4S and 4 go to 620 HP.

The GTS, Turbo, and Turbo S go to 800 hp.

The big winners here are the 4 and the GTS owners. You get the performance level of the highest price cars for a substantially lower price.
