So I've had my lovely Taycan for 6 months now, and I've completed 7k miles without issue.

HOWEVER -

I am now familiar with most of the other Taycans in my area (Woldingham Surrey area), I've not had a single person nod, wave, or even smile back to me when I've attempted to do so.

This is my first Taycan, and I would have thought like most of niche cars on the road there is a group solidarity for each other that would warrant at least a smile or nod. Is this not the case with a Porsche?

I fear it's not as niche as you think around London. I have a 5 mile school run, normally cycle them, but the other day I counted 7 different Taycans on that loop and that excludes my neighbour 3 doors down who has one too.

Well, Im am clearly the psychotically overly friendly Taycan owner then! I beep, flash wave and shriek when I see another one !!! Mine is mamba and the first day I took her out I saw an other mamba ST with bikes on the back in Sussex. It was being driven like it was stolen (very exciting to see hehe) and I beeped so much, he/she flashed like crazy... there was a lot of love... :))) since then I still continue to act all crazy when I see others and zilch so far haha ! xx. If I see a white one in Surrey will be sure to have a party for you ! :)

an A1NOB in Bristol told me my Targa wouldn’t be a proper Porsche without Vanity plates. Not going there!!

Get waved at in Targa occasionally but never in Taycan ( apart from neighbours and Len the plumber) … Taycan isn’t really ‘proper Porsche’ being built alongside Etron GT in Audi factory. Just keep waving and someday you may strike lucky!

I dont believe they are made in same factory, Taycan made in Porsche factory in Zuffenhausen, and Etron made in Audi factory in Neckarsulm

I’m literally days away from picking up my ST 4S, desperately hoping that Taycan drivers beep or wave!! I started driving a 1961 Beetle and as I’m sure you all know it was an unwritten law that you gave other Beetle/ classic VW drivers the “Hang Loose ?” as you passed! I do force my family to say “Taycan, Taycan, Taycan” if we see one as if it’s some sort of Pagan chant ?? let’s spread the love ❤

interesting it may have changed but my understanding was that they were built on the same platform in the same R8 factory.

Over the 7+ months I’ve owned my Taycan, I’ve only seen one other Taycan on one occasion in the town I live in. We waived and smiled. From what I’ve read, Taycans in the UK are like Kias here. No wonder no waives.

Many components are the same. But Porsche made new buildings in Zuffenhausen for the Taycan production and assembly. I have had the factory tour there twice. And Audi assemble the e-tron GT in a small factory together with the R8 at Böllinger Höfe to the west of Neckarsulm. I have been there too.

Certainly no such contact in London. I think it's like talking to strangers on the tube - strictly forbidden, unless you're an American tourist, who are of course to be blanked as per unwritten rules of the underground.
