Hi. I have been following all discussions on the forum.

I placed an order for a RWD taycan in Feb 23. Just got a message to say I have a build slot.

I asked what the situation was with the MY24 facelift and pricing. Apparently Porsche have provided no information, and the SA knows nothing. So, I would really appreciate some help with the following...

1) I am now paying 5% more for my car than when I ordered it in February. Fair enough, I suppose, inflation has been running higher than that. I asked the SA if I waited for the MY24 facelift if there would be more again to pay. Apparently he has no information on this. Does anybody know?

2) My car would be due delivered in the UK in mid-December. Would I be getting the facelift model by that time?

3) I am debating about whether it would be worth just holding off a few months. Is there a way to just swap my order for the facelift model without waiting another 10 months?

Any help would be greatly appreciated. I just find it so strange the the local Porsche dealership knows nothing. Or are the just saying that to get rid of current models before the facelift model arrives?

I do appreciate there isn't a huge difference in the models. However, if they were same prices and available after only a few months, I'd rather just wait....

No one knows for sure. Pre-covid, model updates could generally be set to a clock. Now there are too many factors….. My personal view is that the current model is pretty awesome so you should lock in and try to enjoy the ride. I get the fact that you wouldnt want to miss the new thing by a month or two but if there was a new thing, there would also be new options and new pricing. If you are open to that, you should hold.

I don’t think anyone will have the answers you’re looking for.

I was buying an SUV a few years ago and there were spy shots of a hybrid version undergoing testing, I asked the SA when it was coming, they said they didn’t know and it still hasn’t been released. There’s been a facelift but that was meh, I prefer the looks of my version and if the rumours are true the Taycan facelift is minor.

I guess you should consider if you’d be willing to wait 6/9 or even 12 months if the facelift is for MY25

Is the facelift my24 or my25? I locked down my 2024 order in April and got it delivered 2 weeks ago.

Porsche told me after the summer of 2024 for the facelift and 11% more to pay.

It’s not unusual for a dealer to know nothing. Audi price promise once ordered, not sure why Porsche (also Volkswagen group) don’t. The car market is very flat currently and there are many new unsold Porsche so a deal may be possible if you find the right dealer.

Thanks to all who answered. Based on your responses I'll be going ahead with my MY24, which may get delivered in December. However, based on what's happened over the past year, I'll not be holding my breath for an on-time delivery ?

You'll get it on time. Dealers actually have stock of various new MY23s (never a good sign). Not facelift until this time next year I reckon.

This does not sound right, if you placed your order with a PO, then the price is locked at that time, at least that is how it works here. My dealership tried to charge me higher doc fee, since corporate increased it for 2023, but I said, that is not going to work since the PO from 2022 shows a lower number. I waited 8 months before I got a build slot, so during that time prices for anything could have changed many times. The whole point of a PO with your build and every line item with a price is to make it official and lock the price.

On the facelift, no one knows, and it is not guaranteed you will like it, so I agree with others, get one now and get current price for the best build you can afford. For example, it did not appear at the time that getting MY2020 Cayenne in early 2020 was a good thing to do given multiple market and personal factors, but I went for it without compromise, and so happy I did now as I do not like the refresh for 2024, prices are insane, interest rates are 2.5x times, and they do not even have a regular Turbo, and so on. I am thinking I got the best one they made now and loving it.

All build slots post June/July are MY 2024 cars. The last pricing increase on the Porsche website back in May was the update for MY 2024 so a deposit placed in Feb was for the MY 2023 pricing. In May, when the prices updated, all MY23 build slots were allocated so why show the price on a car (MY23) that no one could buy. With my dealership there isn’t a buyers order placed until there is an allocation / build slot the dealership can assign to the customer (me). At that point they take a deposit, no money changes hands until then. That’s when PCNA sees the order and when the price locks. You will also get an email from PCNA with your “Track Your Dream” link. If you already have a My Porsche account the link just shows up.

Your dealer knows all of this, if your SA doesn’t then he/she is an idiot (sorry, but this is a premium product, there’s NO excuse for them to not know and share all of this info).

Actually that is a very good sign, it means the pipeline has gotten back to something resembling normal. Every dealership since the beginning of time, at least since the franchise dealer model was enshrined here in the US, has always had leftover MY stock as the MY switches over. What has happened over the last 3 years is an anomaly that I hope never returns.

Different in UK in my experience. Over the last 20 years my dealer has never had spare stock. Showroom cars couldn't be sold unless there was something to replace it.

To see 50+ new Taycans available in UK is by no means normal. Potentially cancelled orders I guess.

I just asked the Porsche dealer I bought my Taycan from and it's seems Taycan Phase 2 will be announced on June 24 and deliveries will start on October 24 (MY25).

I don't think there are any significant changes for the MY24 model. There are quite a few brand new taycans in dealerships at MY23 prices. Some of which are up to £10k less than MY24 list. I'd have a look there before committing to a build. You'll get the car now and save £££.
