I recently bought a used 2022 Taycan RWD. It literally had all the add-ons I wanted except for two of them (ACC and Electric Sport Sound). I do think I would have enjoyed the ACC convenience but I picked it up from Portland and drove it all the way down to SoCal without really feeling like I needed it. However, I really want the Electric Sport Sound. I know that the ACC can't be added on as a modification and I was fine with that.

However, without doing any research, I thought the electric sport sound system was going to be something I could add on at the dealer.... But that's not the case. I have been quoted at $4,000 from Porsche Newport.

I bought the car at a great price ($76k with 14K miles white 2022 RWD with mission e wheels, ventilated seats, LCA, sport chrono package, battery performance plus, premium package, heated steering and 150kW on-board fast charger) so I am very much okay with eating the cost of adding on the electric sport sound. But wanted to see if anyone knows of any shops that have experience with Taycans. I have not been able to find one that seems to have enough Taycan experience for me to feel comfortable with them to do this major modification.

The quote from the dealer was about 10 hours of labor at $300 an hour. I'm sure a stereo installer or auto shop can save me some money but would like to know it's from a reputable Taycan shop to take that risk. I have reviewed the installation guide from Tequipment and it looks to be complex.

From other posts I've seen here, what you are saying seems consistent. It's apparently very laborious to get it installed after the fact.

I passed on the electric sports sound in favor of a bunch of other options, and hopefully don't regret it.

Considering it's around $500 before delivery, I would say it's worth it. I'm just being very particular about it since that's how I would have optioned it. I do like having some audio feedback when accelerating and braking.

But yeah, I just realized that considering future warranty or service issues I might have, I should end up going with the dealer installing it.

Yep if you really want it just have the dealer install it. You can shop around at other dealers to see what variance they might have...

It's funny, I know this option is very "love or hate it" from previous discussions. When we test drove we barely noticed it when turning it on (maybe it didn't actually turn on?) which is why we didn't bother speccing it.

I'm guessing we never actually turned it on lol.

Lots of people just think it's a gimmick, use it once and then forget about it.

I've got it and i like it but it isn't really loud enough and i only really notice it when it first turns on (switching to sports mode etc). I do have it on a programmable button but never think to press it!

$500 purchase - sure, it's fun.
$4k purchase - not even close to being worth it.

I have it (part of performance package which I wanted), even though I wouldn't have speced it after trying it out during a test drive. It very loosely correlates to speed change and not at all to actual speed or gear changes (it has numerous pretend gear shifts). The only use so far I found was scaring animals away. I once found myself driving in the middle of a state park in the middle of the night, my Taycan got surrounded by deer. Flipped on, deer scattered. Started turning it on whenever driving late at night on dark roads, warn and hopefully scare the animals ahead.

It's a love/hate option. Personally, I love it. I use it everyday (i'm often in sport plus mode).

Now would I add it for 4k? It's subjectif, I know I would because I love it. I don't know if you will like it in the long run. And yes, if you go for it I would install it via Porsche. No need to find a bit cheaper and then run into troubles...

For me, as well as being a bit of fun when driving enthusiastically, it's a must-have safety option. The number of times I've used it to warn pedestrians in car parks and other crowded places that I'm coming: I wouldn't have a Taycan without it. If I forget to turn it on, I've had people literally let their kids walk out in front of my (very slowly), moving car because they didn't hear me.

Doesn't your Taycan make a mandatory sound at low speeds regardless of sport sound? Mine does, whether sport sound is on or off.

I have the electric sound but rarely use it - I'd save the 4K for something else!

Before you go ahead with the Porsche version of sport sound, have a look at the speedArt Active Sound system, which I came across this past weekend. See page 4 of this pdf: https://speedart.de/images/PDFs/Taycan_English_WEB.pdf (they have Euro pricing listed too) and watch the video below. It's got me really intrigued as I do sometimes, miss my ICE exhaust sounds.

Animal alerting is the only time I use mine. Otherwise, it's sound is sufficiently "fake" that it's embarrassing.
