I was of the mind that the sport sound detracts from the novelty of an EV, but I see that the parking lot or country night driving use case is valid. I thought EVs were required to have slow speed noise in the USA but the Taycan w/o sport sound isn't nearly loud enough (not sure it has a Pedestrian Warning System at all??).

I don’t have sport sound but my car does make an electric grungy sound when going slowly which people do seem to notice and turn to look. I haven’t noticed at what speed it stops creating it.
It isn’t very loud though and I have to open the window to hear it from inside the car.

I've seen some hideous Taycans with over $4k in mods on this forum. $2k is definitely worth for factory sound.

*** UPDATE ***

I went to Porsche Riverside and they finished the retrofit after a week and I love it! Full transparency it was $3k with parts and labor. But they did loan me a GTS that I drove very enthusiastically for a week :D I will say that Electric Sports Sounds is incredibly louder in the GTS than the Base one I have. But love it nonetheless.

NICE. Great that you got the option you wanted retrofitted for a price you're happy with. Enjoy!

PS> Don't forget to turn it on when traveling through rural highways to scare the animals away.

Before you go ahead with the Porsche version of sport sound, have a look at the speedArt Active Sound system, which I came across this past weekend. See page 4 of this pdf: https://speedart.de/images/PDFs/Taycan_English_WEB.pdf (they have Euro pricing listed too) and watch the video below. It's got me really intrigued as I do sometimes, miss my ICE exhaust sounds.

I ordered the SpeedART Sound System. It just arrived from Germany. Next step is scheduling the installation. I’m looking forward to enhanced sound. Especially in city, parking lots, and neighborhood driving. I had an incident when a bike rider rode across my path unaware of my vehicle. I believe the stock enhanced setting on the vehicle is not effective enough.

Wow, this is exciting. You're likely the first in North America to do this.

If you don't mind me asking, how much did the system cost you (in USD) and what were you quoted for the install?

Looking forward to some clips after it's done!

I dont mean to yuck anyone's yum, but to me I prefer the skytrain sound of the electric sport sound compared to the exhaust burble of those aftermarket systems. Although, I must say after having the car for a bit I usually do not use the sport sound at all. I'm more of a music guy. I also removed the aftermarket exhaust from my previous sports cars due to drone

In my GTS the sport sound is loud to me. And I have thermal and sound insulated glass. Not sure if it’s quieter in other models?

there’s a Tesla dealership not too far from me on Santana row. I love parking my car in front and turning on the sport sound. Gives me the laughs when everyone in the Tesla store turns to see where the Star Wars like sound is coming from. No doubt the sound gets head turns.

The sound you hear in the car comes from an internal speaker. The sounds others hear come from the external speaker. Sound insulated glass doesn’t matter much for this.

I use the sport sound every time I drive. It's the closest I'll get to feeling like I have an exhaust system haha.

ah. Explains it. Well in that case you think it seems loud because of the sound insulated glass?

if the outside ambient noise is being filtered more, would explain why the internal sound seems louder to me.

how how do I make that Star Wars sound louder on the outside? ?

I get a chuckle from some of these comments, I would pay to have the noise maker removed from the car. I find it hard on my ears, the sound of the electric motors is more than enough noise from the car.

I have it and use it occasionally. But I seem to roll my eyes when I notice it coming from E-tron Audis equipped with sport sound. "You Sir, are no sports car!" ?

I'm curious, HOW MUCH would you pay to have it removed?
