Indeed, lots of standard equipment, including, apparently, powered charging port covers.

Perhaps this is unsurprising, given the scathing feedback here, as well as the generous standard equipment on the Macan EV. Besides, all models come with a hefty price increase, so the standard kit isn’t exactly “free”.

I struggled to recall a mid-cycle refresh that was so comprehensive, and nothing comes to mind. The would-be 944 S3 refresh became eventually a new model (968). 997.2 introduced a completely new engine, but little else. The Porsche official video on the new Taycan called it the most expansive in their history, and they’re probably not exaggerating.
As a former 997.2 owner, I disagree :) The interior of the 997.2 was a massive upgrade over the 997.1. Most of the externals stayed the same but the .2 moved over to modern LED lighting in the rear as well as introduction of Bi-Xenon headlights, which were an amazing upgrade. Your sentiment is right on, though - this feels like a new car versus a .2 upgrade. All that said, I love my MY2020 4S - buying a first-gen anything means you’re buying the worst version of whatever it is, but I still think it’s better than almost anything else on the road.

The changes are minor, but clean. I wonder if they'll launch the GTS versions the following year?

€52k more for "my spec" when translated into the new Taycan in Ireland vs my one year old Turbo S.

I couldn't find some options (like headrest Porsche logo) or Carrera White Metallic, or 19.2KW charger, but as close as I could get to my Turbo CT spec, $21K more (before taxes).

The only things appealing to me were more power, overboost available for passing, soft close doors, and PAR. I think I can hack the overboost power for way less than it would cost be to upgrade. Will have to live with less max power (but after hacking will have it overboost available without some button), and without soft close doors, and with PDCC instead of PAR, but I get to keep a better looking design (IMO), functional air-scarf, 19.2KW charger (which I use at home every day) and all chalk leather seats (the new two tone with only chalk inserts is not my favorite).

Wow some people are taking this really hard, isnt EV/Porsche development supposed to be a good thing? Read through the latest marketing material of any product and get FOMO, nothing new on that.

Was range a priority to you when buying a Taycan? Better options for range were out there in 2020.

Did you need more power? Unless you have a turbo, you had the option for a higher trim or even if you went for turbo, a model S Plaid.

The new standard equpment? They come with a price, could have optioned them in.

Charging speed? Rare to see infra that supports our current max speed, maybe a few years down the line.

These are also some considerations 2nd hand buyers have.

Yes, its an improvement on most areas but unless you’re one of those people who get the latest iphone every year you’ll live through this with your current car. Resale values may or may not be noticeably affected by this: there are no 2-year old refresh models out there yet, and in two years there are no 5-year old refreshed Taycans with lower price tags out there.

+we dont even know if the refresh brings any new problems that are not present in current gen.
Very well said.

I assumed they would be for brake cooling, no?
Yes, but not if they are non-functional, like the vent behind the front wheels on the original Taycan if you optioned the powered charge port.

Can't wait for my Gen2 GTS tech somewhere around 2029.
Up to that I let cool down my MY22 GTS depreciation curve nicely.
Fill the gap with a 992.2 GT3 MY25. Getting allocation is a kind of compensation for the purchase of a high depreciation Taycan (and some other purchases before).
At least this is the way of my local dealership.

UK and US seem to be around 6% (my Turbo CT config equivalent has gone up just over 5% from the MY24 price).
My Turbo CT in the USA went up almost 12% over MY23, and it was still missing some options no longer available (e.g. upgraded onboard charger, Porsche crests on headrests, carrera white metallic).

Yes, but not if they are non-functional, like the vent behind the front wheels on the original Taycan if you optioned the powered charge port.
So the *overall* design of the wings obviously doesn't change in terms of aero and I guess they've decided the minor drag reduction of blocking that vent/scarf doesn't necessitate the (perceived), improvement of having an electric charge port

I just can't see Porsche adding a fake vent to what could be a more generic (and therefore cheaper to produce), rear bumper without an actual reason, which imo is different from removing that air-flow. I'd also add that the majority of the new wheel options will reduce turbulence in the wheel well compared most of the options on the current gen car. It may be (geekily), interesting to see what they say about it though

It screams Mazda to me! But Porsche's tend to look better in real world so maybe the pictures aren't doing the curves justice.
Agreed.
I’ll wait to see it in wild, but based on those pics, i don’t like new front at all.

Speaking of Sport sound, does anyone know from where the sound emanates on the exterior? It's pretty loud which I like…sounds cool and people can hear the car which seems safer.
Afaik, there are dedicated exteriror speakers.

Does the color of the car in the display screen match the exterior color of the car or is it just white again (for people with exterior colors other than white) ?

Tempting to upgrade, but I'm happy enough with my 2022 4CT to wait until the NACS situation is finalized..
