I ordered a Macan 4 as it was much better value than the Taycan l - (closest comparison, a CT4 Taycan)
The Taycan ll makes the Mac4 look even better value.

I do love the new leather free trim in the T2 with retro fabric but it is still a £1,121 upgrade
and leather free is free in the Mac4 (I am not veggie I just don't like leather) as is 4+1 seats AND decent 20' wheels.
I am having a heated Race Tex sports S wheel too on the Mac4 and which you can get without Sports Chrono.

For my specification the Mac4 is £76,000, the CT4 has jumped from £101,000 from £109,000
£33,000 difference is massive. To me at least.
The power of CT has increased from just less than the Mac4 to just more but the range
is still showing as better on the website for the Mac4. Performance is very similar.

The price differences are mad.... Even the paint, luggage partition net and 18 way seats are cheaper in Mac4.

The only goodies you get on a T2 over the MY23 T are foldy mirrors and auto dimming mirrors (which I want)
and electric charger ports (which I don't). The new electric ports on the Macan are loads better. No silly little black fin.

You get foldy mirrors on a Mac 4 and free Lane Change Assist but have to pay £278 for Auto Dim
Lane Change Assist is £639 in a T2

Matrix LED lights are £852 in Mac4 - £1755 in (CT4) T2

To fit roof bars to a T2 you need glass roof and rails for £1749
Just need the rails on a Mac4 for £269

Inno drive is £1000 more in a T2 than a Mac4 and you have to have Sports Chrono which I DONT want. For another £1000.

I have loved (both) my Taycan(s). It's much prettier but the Macan is a better fit for the family and I save £££££££s.
And a bit less flash which I don't mind.

I won't miss Air Suspension. You need it in a Taycan to stop your bum scraping the ground.
I scrape my spoiler every few weeks in my GTS. I forget I am low or the bump is just too high. Very irritating.
Worst of all Smart Lift occasionally and randomly doesn't work and I scrape - INFURIATING.
The ground clearance in a steel suspension Mac4 is 184mm, 8mm more than a CT4 in max-height off-road mode.
I trust Porsche has made the steel suspension excellent.
Plenty of people here seem happy with Taycan 2wd steel suspension.

I don’t understand why this design decision wasn’t carried across to the Taycan II, it’s so much neater.
The only reason I didn’t option electric ports on my GTS was that silly fin!

But they’re really easy to open. Well, unless it’s raining, then they open the 3rd/4th time after drying them off :CWL:. Honestly I quite like them but the Macan ones are much simpler/cleaner

An interesting point. I am guessing the Macan won't drive as well as a Taycan. Have you test driven one?
No, never do!
It’s a Porsche. It won’t handle as well as a Taycan but it will be the best handling SUV ever. (EV OR ICE)
It’s not for that anyway. Hence not bothering with Air Sus.
It be a sublime place to be and everything will work better than in a Taycan.

Another angle on this is- how does the Macan option stack up against VAG's other offerings that will share its platform? Depending on your main requirements, they could be much better value.
I like Audi. Bought an Etron. Love it. Still have it after 4 years. Just not as nice as a Porsche. V Dubs don’t compare. Built to a price.
Other VAG options will be cheaper and nothing will compare to the Porsche. Perhaps the Audi will come close(st)
Like the Etron GT is a Taycan in a shell suit.

My problem is that at the moment I’m restricted to one car, which has to be able to take a lot of stuff in it due to me managing a football team. I am just not a fan of the way SUVs/Cross-overs drive, any of them.

I guess another point of disappointment is that the Macan EV also gets the new Augmented Reality HUD which sounds pretty cool. The Taycan.2 still has the same HUD as before.

The updated range, air suspension, and overdrive-on-demand (with sport chrono) are the main draws to me for the Taycan.2, but I pulled the trigger and took delivery of my car last week so I'm out of the game for now. I'm not feeling any significant buyer's remorse, though, because I got a great deal and they just bumped the price another $10k USD across the board.

That price difference is crazy. I have a suspicious feeling that Porsche knew they won't sell many Taycans anyways and kepts prices high to make the Macan look like good value, which to be fair I still find expensive compared to ICE Macan.

Agreed on the inexplicable price differential - I thought it was a typo….

Air I think you should have and PASM at the very least. I have air on my Macan T and is preferred over non-air IMHO. Some the comparisons you make aren’t quite aligned - Matrix Lights being the main one as both are quite different - 84 pixels vs 32,000 pixels and more tech associated. At then of the day these are trinkets really and there’s just no getting away from that heft price differential between the 2 (fully expect ICE versions of the new Macan to be announced soon which will only hamper EV sales further IMHO). Price differential between T1 and T2 is not insignificant either which as another factor. Suspect the Cayenne EV will really put the cat amongst the Porsche EV lineup and probably the one to wait for.

I do like the smart entry feature and had hoped that would be available without the other stuff - it ain’t and so an egress / ingress aid for us oldies is north of £6K as this is an issue on any Taycan without such a feature.

There are going to be a lot fewer new Taycans on the road (thankfully) replaced with Macan's as business leases get renewed.

I'm pleased.
Taycans are everywhere around my home territory nowadays.
I am in Bolton and there are Taycans everywhere. I do live next to a private school and I live on the posh side of town (if there is such a thing in Bolton) but I reckon there are perhaps as many as 20 Taycans on the school run and I see up to 30 regularly including outside gyms and stuff. (Lovely Speed Yellow one)

In Cheshire it must be just Taycans and Range Rovers with the odd Urus?
There are 3 Urus's on my local school run.

There is a much bigger market for 2nd hand Macans so it will be smaller % depreciation on a smaller amount. Just lost £35k in two years on Taycan. Be more like £20k on a Macan. Also the EV Macan will be a much more exclusive sight on our roads than a Taycan for a year or two.

Fair point, not exactly like with like, but I am glad I can get the best Matrix lights available on the Mac for not silly money. I LOVE the Matrix lights on our GTS's. I would never have paid extra for them but once tried I cant go back to PDLS and the mid range PDLS+ not available on Mac.
I bet the new Macan lights are not too far behind the Taycan l or even the ll, they will still be superb.

The Innodrive and/or Adaptive Cruise is probably more complex and advanced on the T than the M but is it worth double the money?

One clear difference is the 19' rubbish frisbee wheels are still on the Taycan2 while 20s are standard on the Macan and they are much nicer.

The HUD of course is miles better on the Mac but it's more expensive so defeats my Macan vs Taycan value argument but it's not (too) crazy priced

I am an Air Sus fan but dont want to spend the money when I know Porsche Steel Suspension is state of the art..? I wouldnt trust anyone elses Steel Suspension on a 2.5 tonne EV.

What is this Entry/Exit £6k thing you speak of?

Cheers

The 6K thing is the replacement for PDCC - all sorts of active ride adjustment wizardry and a feature which operates when you open a door to instantly jack the height of the car up (SUV height) and then drops down when you close the door. Great idea and should be part of standard air suspension to aid entry and exit. There is a video of it somewhere.
