Sorry for the rookie question. Do I need to put the subscriber ID from the Porsche app into the EA app?

thanks!

What year Taycan? The 2020 does not have Plug and Charge, but 2021+ should have it. In which case it should be as simple as just pulling up, plugging in, and watch it go. That said there are some features in the PCM you need to turn on IIRC but it has been a while since I did that.

If your car indeed is a 2020 then you would start a session from the Porsche app on your device, as memory serves me from my '20 4S sedan. You find the station/charger and still plug in first but then use the app to do the handshake.

BTW, EA's customer service is top notch so a quick phone call to them might also help.

PS: Here is where to go if you have a 21+ with P&C features-- watch video for a quick tutorial on what you need to make sure it switched on. If you have an active charging subscription as you noted, and this feature shows up and is then turned on, it should just "work" :)

Top notch?? On a recent fail EA charge, I call their support number and only get recorded messages. No actual person at all! Awful. It turns out, thanks to advice from somebody in a neighboring stall, you *have to hold up the cable just after it’s plugged in to get a charge to initiate*. I am restraining my native Anglo-Saxon vocabulary in making these comments. I had about 20% charge at the time. Wondering where I was going to charge next. This general situation about charger availability is a real problem. I’m in the DC metro area. Steve

We’ve been driving electric for over a decade. I have made countless journeys that are over 1000 miles in each direction direction using Electrify America charging. Because I’ve done so much driving, over 25,000 miles a year. Typically, I have had a few occasions where I’ve had to call their customer service. And it has always been amazing for me. I’m sorry that that has not been the case for you.

I will not say the charging with them has been without flaws, but my experiences are definitely at the opposite end of what it seems like most users are. Maybe it’s just better here in the Midwest. ?

Thanks for your comment. I took a 1,000+ mile trip down to Florida using only EA charging without incident. But locally, for some reason, charging has been very hit or miss. And with so few *available* locations to choose from, this can be a serious problem.
I do have a question for you. How do you get to talk to a real person? Sometimes, based on past EA experience, they can reset the charger station you are using and you are in business.

I've always just gone via the app (see my photos I am attaching here for your assistance). I've always used the ph# that pops up that way. I think there is a ph# listed on the terminals but I've always just used the app. From there I have followed whatever prompt for "assistance at a charging station" or whatever the query is -- but it's been a few months so apologies, I dont recall specifically. I've had it where they rebooted a machine, and that typically works. That said, I have had 5+ minute holds when calling on a weekend; but week days I usually reach someone quickly.

PS: On a recent trip to Pittsburgh from NE Ohio, I had to call EVgo for support and wow that was instant. No pressing buttons it was just a call, instant route to a human, and < 60 seconds from call-to-talking; impressive!
