I will give Kyle credit for creating a "YouTube empire" by simply covering EVs. It has provided him with credibility to get early access to a number of launch vehicles, and allowed him to buy a few cars.

I am not 30 years old, so his manner of communication does nothing for me. If there is anyone in a public forum like he is that needs to learn the words "brevity or get to the point," it is him. I will watch the occasional video he puts out when the subject is something I am interested in, like the updated Taycan. However, I will put the video on mute and read the closed caption. I will usually skip several minutes at a time as well.

I much prefer Thomas from the Autogefuhl channel when it comes to reviewing Porsche vehicles. His videos are much more succinct, polished, and the guy dresses like an adult. And, yes, this is a 100% indictment of Kyle's propensity to not stop talking and the fact that that he wears nothing but hoodies.

Him creating this Taycan spec video is nothing but additional calories for his oversized ego. 99.5% of his audience cannot afford a Taycan, but generating those videos allows people to vent on how a Tesla Model S is better since the bulk of his followers are blind Tesla zealots. When I spec out a new '25 Cross Turismo 4s and spend the money it costs to get the options I want, it will be because I want access to the new battery, the new charging capability, the new efficiency, the updated suspension, and the fancy glass roof.

You want to buy a Rivian, or a Tesla, then sure take Kyle's advice if you need it. Buying a Porsche, then speak to an owner, not some dude on YouTube.

He's been a big proponent of EVs and I find his videos interesting and frequently includes information that isn't readily found elsewhere. I don't understand why people are dumping on him, there's a ton of information out there about these cars and he is one of many sources that I'm sure we all reference when we're thinking about buying one of these cars. I found his descriptions of PTV+ (Torque Vectoring Plus) and rear axle steering valuable, I've never experienced either of those features. While the configurator can show you what happens to the dash when you add the HUD, I hadn't come across that and did wonder what it looked like. The cannonball runs were entertaining and he shows what happens when you get to zero in your battery (something I hope never happens to me!). I hope he keeps churning out his videos. I wouldn't buy a purple car but on some level his videos helped support the notion that buying a Taycan wasn't a totally stupid idea, before I bought mine.

After about 28 minutes he makes an excellent point about why it must be a Race Tex wheel even on the ‘budget’ spec. I couldn’t have put it better myself.

I have never engaged in "criticize my build" threads around here, except to remind would-be buyers not to let their money be spent by random people on the internet. Even if you fully trusted someone (whether here or on YT), there are subjective features which will sharply divide any random group with opinions. One should do their research, try and experience the feature first-hand, and somehow quantify their own level of regret for committing either type of (statistical) error in answering the question "is it worth the cost?"

So no, RaceTex is not a universal "must", just as your earlier example with the standard-spec 8-way seats: absolutely not for me, and I can't understand why anyone would insist they would be "correct" on such a subjective matter.

The one time I found an opinion/review to be very useful was regarding the Offroad Design pack; it is deceptively described as adding more clearance, and it was this forum (not some YTer) that had debunked it. It was substantiated with data published by the manufacturer, so I call that "research".

Of course it is, and since another poster has enlightened me that this Kyle fellow also agrees with me that a purple exterior is another universal "must", I have completely changed my opinion on this entire topic, and am now going down to the local courthouse to either marry Kyle if he is still single or to change my name legally to match his.

BREAKING NEWS UPDATE: I have now watched the 20 seconds of this video necessary to answer the only essential question therein, and the wedding and/or name change is now off, because that is lavender, not purple.

Until now!
You sound upset!
Where is anyone ‘insisting’ they are correct?
It’s just regular forum chat.
I think it’s nice when people make informative statements recommending less common stuff such as a Race Tex wheel that people may not have considered.

‘Must have’ was his phrase, not mine, and it is just a euphemism for liking something a lot. It doesn’t mean if you read a post you ‘MUST’ do what is written.

This forum is very keen on leather everywhere. It’s just a different perspective.

I have read on this forum many times that I ‘must have’ rear steer, full leather and plenty of other stuff.
I have neither taken any notice, nor taken offence. It’s just banter.

I also like it when people make suggestions of how to actually spend less on a Porsche.
8 way seats are never on showroom cars so people rarely get to try them.
They really are very good. You don’t necessarily need 14 or 18.

Eh. I'm not saying his videos are amazing, but I think the amount flack he's getting here and at Reddit is completely disproportionate.

He keeps rambling a bit, but I like that he often focuses on more technical and EV related aspects of the cars rather than just parroting the same 0-60mph numbers or whatever that most content creators keep doing.

? all better now, I've had my Snickers bar.

(It wasn't you in particular; and it's not as much my dislike of this or that YTer, as it is my disdain for those who blindly repeat their opinions as gospel. "Kyle would know <..>" Georg Kacher, he ain't..)

(looking angrily in @Tooney's direction) You set me up..

(sheesh, j/k)

you drop a quarter into this talking mouth and he never shuts up. he is a freeloader. he should get a real job.
It was surprised that Nick Murray, the guy who had a 911 lemon and took on the company over it, and who is usually fair minded and informative about all things ICE-Porsche related, said he counted Kyle among his friends in his most recent video, which spends a fair amount of time throwing shade on the Taycan. Whoa! There are points to be made about Taycan short comings, and many of them have been made in this forum, but I read him essentially as saying he does not enjoy the Taycan driving experience. I can understand that, as it take very little effort in the Taycan to “Go Fast” as it is said, and he enjoys shifting gears. Well, ok, but that, together with a fall off in resale prices of some models, is hardly grounds for a jeremiad against the car en toto. I believe, world wide, Porsche has sold 150,000 of this model since introduction, according to a very recent press report in a UK publication. I think that many buyers acted knowing there would be faults to contend with and opened their wallet, nevertheless.

Kyle...Doug Demuro... Schmee...seem to get a ton of hate on forums. But, I bet all you complainers of these YTers are secretly subscribers and are just in denial. Or maybe in the anger stage after wasting too many hours listening to verbal diarrhea and nasally voices.

How else do you explain their view counts?

I bet if I made an options video, everyone would hate it more.

Not that I’d have to worry about anyone watching it in the first place.

Doug was ok, albeit deserving some of the hate for inventing the "low information density car review" concept. (He was hilarious as a writer at Jalopnik a loooong time ago.)

And no need for subscribing - between my obsession with Porsche and my wife's with gardening, my YT feed is a weird mix of cars and soil-amending videos. You can guess which ones are more informative..

I like watching Kyle occasionally along with other self-proclaimed Social Media Influencers: makes me appreciate the Savage Geese guys! Sure they might have some biases, but they put real work into editing their videos, not just rambling on forever, and they actually put their test vehicles up on a lift to discuss the suspension designs.
Ditto for Tyre Reviews, which actually, you know tests tires(/tyres), with some significant effort too.
Same as some other video reviews I watched when I was looking into the Taycan.
By contrast, Kyle's review of PID featured an ostensibly objective scoring system that reminded me of the old "My Word!" BBC show.

It is interesting to see the hate spewed towards people like Kyle. When I do get annoyed with his format, length, or selection of subject for his videos I just remind myself that it's his business and livelihood, and he's working the youtube algorithms to make income. If it's that annoying I push a button to instantly stop the playback and move on to something else. He's at the extreme end of length and padded out content for youtube, but there's still valuable things I want to see here and there.

I'm glad we have so much content out there and available to watch! I'm old enough to remember when the only way you could get new info was to hit the magazine stand and read a periodical. It's interesting that when we have so much info now available, and completely under our control, people gripe about it. I'm much happier living in the age of Kyle and all the amazing info I can consume, versus pre-Internet/pre-youtube days.
