I changed out the high voltage charger using a second hand part purchased from a vehicle dismantler and now find that there is a component protection system that needs to be cleared to allow the charger to work.

It's the silver thing to the left of the image and lives behind the Frunk.

Does anyone know if Porsche will perform this service?

Do you mean the component will not function until it is matched with the VIN? I would think you could find someone with PIWIS and re-program that module to get it matched. But, I've never done it.
Can you back up a couple of steps and explain how you knew your onboard charger needed to be replaced?

Yes they will if it does not pop to be associated with a stolen vehicle.

No, you can’t remove it with a cracked piwis without link to their servers.

The connector on the old charger was cracked, so decided it was safer to change out the unit.

I am not sure whether the vin number has to be attached to the part, but for sure it is blocking the use of the charging system.

Other than the Porsche main dealer, I have not looked for any INDY companies that have PIWIS to correct.

Thanks,

I was unsure on what Porsche's attitude to using recycled parts might be.

Clearly it is good for the environment to recycle parts, but from Porsche's perspective I was concerned it may be policy to only code parts that they have fitted themselves.

What *can* you do on the Taycan with a home version of PIWIS? I thought it was just module downloads that had to be authenticated from their servers?

If a HV component was replaced by a non authorised garage or person (owner) – I have a hunch they'll be reluctant to have anything to do with it. Garages are really sensitive to only having technicians with the correct HV certifications to do anything related to the HV components of a EV for safety and liability reasons.

I know you'll only be asking them to "unlock/pair" the charging component. But that makes them the last in the chain to touch it and they'll be activating it. If something was to happen to the HV circuit in the future: electrocute someone, start a fire, etc – they are going to feel like they'll be on the hook.

I hope I'm wrong: but I fear you'll struggle unless you have a great relationship with an OPC.

I never had issues with my dealer. When I retrofitted my Turbo rear spoiler on the Panamera S they coded it for me. I tried with my home Piwis and coded everything I needed but that so they “reset” my vehicle, fixed the spoiler and told me to stop playing with the piwis hah

Interseting point you make about a charging component being safety critical, it could be argued that changing brake components are similarly critical.

I have no idea how this will play out.

Lol, about being told to stop playing with PIWIS.

Sounds like you have a good relationship with your Porshe dealer.
