From a safety perspective I like being able to see where the car is parked on a map so if my wife gets into trouble and I don’t hear from her then I at least know where she parked and can go look for her. Other than that there are not really any features I absolutely need that I can’t do in the car itself for free…
There are much cheaper tracking devices you can put in the car for that. An Airtags for one time $20 (wire it to the car if you don't want to change batteries), but if you want more real-time/reliable solution there are cell connected trackers, typically require a subscription, but less than $319 a year. Or have your wife enable location sharing with you on her phone (lots of solutions) for which you already pay a subscription.

It is a rip-off. Porsche Connect is $319/year in the US which is just another way Porsche is looking to nickel & dime their customers. It is sad they charge this when other automakers don’t.
Not sure if I’ll renew it but I may have no choice…. They set it up so their customers really don’t have a choice. Sad…
Yes, it is a rip-off. And I currently do not pay it on my 2021 as there's the 3 years free only (on new model its 10y free). And for the one and main feature: pre-heating, I do it just by unlocking the car in the morning and then i pre-heats. So it is the cheapish way to have that featrure, if your Taycan is close to your house.

I just double-checked and I can confirm (MY21 without subscription) that pre-heating/-cooling is still possible (without subscription).
