Hi all

I‘ve been visiting the forum as a guest for a few months now having taken delivery of a 4S in November.

just within the last week or so my heated rear window has stopped functioning. Press the icon and it turns orange for a few seconds and then turns back to white.

I suspect it may be something simple (fingers crossed) like a fuse, but does anybody know which fuse it would be? I’ve looked on the good to know app, but the HRW doesn’t get a mention.

Many thanks.

Andy

(thought I’d add a photo too!)

Page 51 US manual Switching the heated rear window, discusses that depending on the OAT the rear window and exterior (side) mirrors, heating switches off automatically after 5 to 20 minutes.
It also discusses Using Precool /heat timer.
Have you been preheating your vehicle?
If yes, I imagine that the preheat counts towards the 5 to 20 minute limit based on OAT.
Are you trying to use the rear defrost under these conditions and getting the orange to white icon in seconds?
Just a thought.
I searched for fuses page 117–120 US manual and could not find one dedicated to the rear window defrost.
Keep us updated.
Thank you.

Porsche Good to Know app (a must have) will tell you which fuse.

Thanks for your replies.

The heated rear window doesn’t function even when using the pre-heat function so it is definitely not working in any mode. It used to function perfectly until around a week ago.

I’ve checked the good to know app and the heated rear window isn’t mentioned - probably because it’s part of some other circuit.

I was trying to save me having to book it into a dealer, but will likely end up having to do that.

Hi MisterT,

Did you get this resolved as the same thing is happening on my Taycan Turbo, I put rear window heater on, turns orange but then turns white again after about 5 seconds?

No pre-heating or anything going on, just pressing the 'button' on the console, be interested in your fix as just had car back after a recall, was gone for 3 days and is an hour and half dive for me to nearest dealer.

Is there any update on this issue? My rear window defroster button is doing the same thing. (Turns orange and then immediately turns white.) Outside temps are around 20 F.

Apologies for the delayed response …

I don’t have the detail of what the issue was or how it was fixed, other than “we’ve reset and recalibrated the software’, which was also the same response I got when I took it in with a problem with a rear window refusing to close and again when a door handle refused to pop out. Seems like a stock response!
