This creaking cupholder noise was driving me and my passengers BONKERS - dealership quotes me $2,000 to replace them... seriously???
So I took matters in my own hands : Took a q-tip and sprayed it with this grease and shoved it between the finger and the back of the cupholder.... then gingerly sprayed a bit more lithium grease freely into each of the holes while pushing the finger in as far as possible. You have to hit all 8 fingers on both sides of each finger.
PROBLEM SOLVED! it's been a year and no more creaking at all.

I have one major complaint about my Taycan, I hate that the cupholders are noisy. The fingers that grip the cups are noisy, especially if you have a metal cup.

Anyone come up with a solution?
I have the same issue, as well as a couple of squeaks from both front door panels. I have found though that all of the squeaks completely go away if I turn the music up louder! I don't know how they are related but somehow it works...........................🤪

thanks for this!
I'm totally willing to give it a try, but before I do, does it smell? I find that being trapped in a cabin with WD-40 standard would be a problem... Perhaps I should try K-Y first? I hear you can get it in all sorts of flavours, ahem, I mean scents.

No smell - and Lithium grease will last much longer than KY 🤣
definitely don't use standard WD40 though

This tube would be another option but you'd need to work it in there with a q-tip or a toothpick and might just take a bit longer

the lithium grease is white, isn't that ugly?

Well the goal is to get it BEHIND the cupholder - if you end up with any grease visible inside the cupholder you can just wipe it off or wash off with a bit of soapy water
would silicone do the same? Doesn't smell and is clear...

Taking the cup holders out is a 5 minute job so might be easier and provides full access.

is there a removal video?
I'd love to get them out and do a better job.

The area you're aiming to lubricate is roughly here in Blue but inside the insert and between the body of the cupholder and flange of the finger. These two bits of plastic are rubbing and causing the creaking noise

especially if you have a metal cup
Yes -- I noticed this once I started using a massive metal Stanley when my daughter got into that trend.
(When I mentioned to a ski mountaineering partner how my daughter brings more water to school with her than we bring on daylong skiing tours, he reacted with, "Yes, those teenage girls now carry water bottles almost as big as themselves!")

Fortunately she usually cradles her precious Stanley in her lap.
She even started to do that when she tried driving for the first time yesterday evening, until I told her that wasn't such a great idea.
She had picked up her learner permit earlier that day, after completing driver ed the prior week: Monday through Friday, five days in a row, 9:00 to 3:45 each day, almost no breaks, constant lecture plus videos (including a teenage fatal crash that had many students in tears, which at least broke up the boredom, although she found the substance of the material to be interesting, even quizzing me and and my wife on various regs like how far in advance you need to put on your turn signal, despite how almost nobody signals anywhere near Boston).

But they don't learn anything about the actual mechanics of driving, as illustrated by these exchanges during her first driving outing:
*****
"Before you shift into gear, you need put your foot on the brake pedal?"
"Where is the brake pedal?"
*****
"You can experiment with using the turn signal."
"Where is that?"
*****
This was also fun:
"I wonder how the driver test examiner would react if anyone ever took the test in a Taycan?"
"Oh, the car the driving school uses is a Honda Prius!"
"Toyota ..."

I taught my son everything starting with the basics, took the course seriously. He’s a great driver because of it.
