Have the already updated the software with the fix for those of us with cars being built?

I am confused! My Porsche Ambassador confirmed that there is a stop sale order. He also confirmed that there is a software update and that my VIN is not part of this update (late April 2021 build). He indicated about 1,400 Taycan are affected.

I believe that the global recall and this software update may or may not be related. The lack of PCNA's transparency with US owners is starting to really bug me.
FWIW my sales person just told me sales are still going on, they haven't halted. Not sure if he's I'll informed or how true this is.

Here is the official Porsche Recall Lookup Page:

https://recall.porsche.com/prod/pag/vinrecalllookup_V3.nsf/VIN?ReadForm&c=usa

As of the date I posted this for my MY21 4S, no recall. My dealer has just installed a software fix issued days ago under a Do Not Deliver without order from Porsche. I had received a call from the dealer urging me to come in to have the fix applied. I would not have known of the software fix without that call. Kudos to my dealer on that.

Of course, without clarification direct from Porsche, I cannot know for sure that no additional work is required.

One of the news articles mentions a 12 volt battery issue. I thought that had already been dealt with through one of the WMA software fixes issued in the spring. Perhaps some persons have not have that spring fix applied. My impression is that the current issue is post-12 volt fix, having to do with the propulsion motors and communication to them.

My Ambassador is pretty savvy. He just told me that the recall and the software fix are the same, which makes no sense to me. He also said it only affected 1400 Taycan. My guess is that the dealer network has about as much information as we do, which is not much.
1400 sounds about right if we assume that the bug affects the cars that received WMA update and a few that went through production around the time that the same software as WMA was installed in new cars.

p.s. 1400 is 23% of 6000 Taycans delivered in the US, and I think that 23% is a reasonable estimate for number of cars that have received WMA5

I am not sure that the recall page has been updated with the affected VIN's... I will wait for an official Porsche recall notice to check my VIN (and also confirmation it is only 1400 taycans)...

I am curious to see how they will justify the lack of OTA once again for an important update.
For WMA they said that some important drivetrain module were updated and they needed to make sure everything is ok so on.

I think it's increasingly clear that Taycan OTA is BS. They moved from "OTA" to "OTA at the dealership because it needs so much network bandwidth" to " and lots of careful monitoring/experts to do it & hardware exchanged". (I'm not counting maps data updates etc - that's been around for ages)

My bet is that we will see real OTA only with the next gen successor (not mid-lifecycle refresh).

Attached is Porsche Bulletin #2113 which identifies the software updates for WMA5 (MY2020).
The DME is updated to software version 0014 and the front and rear power electronics are updated to software version 0012. This is intended to address the "sudden loss of power" that some have experienced.

This is consistent with what has been reported by others that have this update.

The bulletin also states that as of May 28, 2021 both the WMA5 and WMA6 update include this software update.

So the "Global Taycan recall" probably only includes vehicles that received the original WMA5 update prior to May 28th

I'd also add that the US NHTSA website just updated the Porsche Bulletins issued in May 2021.
There could be more details forthcoming from June that are not available to the public yet.

This TSB describes exactly what was done to my car 3 weeks ago. See copy of workorder here https://www.taycanforum.com/forum/threads/motor-control-error-fix-2021.5336/page-2#post-76851

The catch with this TSB was that you should have experienced the power loss issue to get the update at that time and the update would not show up as a campaign. I guess the recall opens the update to all affected cars without the prereq of having to experience the issue first.

Totally agree - should not have to experience loss of power to get the update!
