No they don’t. There are tons of different modules for the various components. Depends on what your build configuration is for your combo. For example, if you don’t have innodrive, you won’t have the specific module for that.

The different modules then need to work together. The blinking issue is acting like a classic conflict of two programs working to control the same state of something and one is using bad data. Why and how that data is there can be very difficult to debug. It could be data left over and not properly cleared after a reset, update, etc.

Also, just because cars with a pax display haven’t seen this issue yet, doesn’t mean it won’t show up later.

There are other bugs with it too. For example, the display will operate with no pax sitting the pax seat. There is a simple combo of putting the car in drive/park and turning the display on/off to activate it.

The car has great possibilities, but the software was rushed and is still in late beta form.

of course all 40k+ taycans are not the same… but still - not thousands of different configurations.
but i agree with you, such software is a shame for any well known manufacturer, especially for 200k$ vehicles…

i’m looking forward on my CT…counting days to delivery, but every day i’m more affraid….
Fingers crossed :fingerscrossed:

Hidden software issue is my guess.
Does not present as a wire/hardware issue.
When they connect my car to see if the computer shows anything they keep getting open circuit issue. They need to fix it I’m not driving a car that costs over $150,000 that I’m not happy with.

Easily 1000s of different configurations.

if there were only 8 option upgrades, that would produce over 1000 different configurations.

I have a background in software. I’ve seen this pattern of bug before. It’s behaving like a configuration value is not being cleared properly and two different routines are using inconsistent data to control something.

For my car, it’s definitely not acting like a hardware issue, at least for when its blinking.

For example, when it goes into this state, it keeps going as long as the car is on. It never stops blinking. Also, when the car starts up and does not have the issue, it never starts blinking while the car is on.

This indicates a state variable is set or cleared at some point before the car starts and doesn’t change while the car is on. Depending on this state, some software routine turns the display on and another turns it off causing a blinking pattern.

The car does many things in the background when you turn it off. It very well could be that some module is doing something while the car is off and is interrupted when the car is powered on. If the routine does not clear up it’s working memory properly (doesn’t restore the stack right), then there is possibly some corrupted data. This data remains corrupted until the background routine runs again and isn’t interrupted.

If this is the case, this can be a tough bug to recreate and fix.

Totally agree.

I have also heard it happening to both the pax and primary displays at the same time.

BTW, expect to be hassled by PCNA with any repurchase.

Like I said, I filed the lemon law complaint. They acknowledged the issue and stated they will repurchase it. They are now quibbling over mileage and usage deductions. Specifically, I reported the problem within 8 days of purchase. It was two months before the dealership could get a replacement display in stock.

At the time I reported the issue (which I have a date stamp text message) the car had ~500 miles on it. When the dealer replaced the display, it had ~3500. Under the lemon law, a different usage deduction is used after first report. PCNA refuses to use the 500 miles, even with the proof and local dealer backing it up. They are also asserting the useful life is only 120K miles...

After having the car in service for 45+ days in seven months, I'm not taking it and am moving on with a full hearing and breach of warranty claims.

If you want any help, let me know.

Could as well be a hardware issue which "corruptes data". What a mess, sorry!

They changed out every hardware component involved.

Also, if it was just hardware, you would typically see it consistently all the time.

They ordered another part from Germany which is on backorder. When they scanned your car were you getting the same open circuit error? This could be helpful for them to find the issue. Maybe it will lead them in the right direction.
