Hello All, I am almost close to ordering a base model... however some of the Taycan reviews on YT have -ve rating for touchscreen.. especially the one for controlling temperature and volume. I did notice on YT video that its very slow... for each point to + or - you literally have click and wait... but that seemed a 2020 4S model though.. have Porsche improved that with newer models or with software updates ? Would look awkward when someone points that out sitting in 120K car lol....

I've not noticed a big issue with changing temperature using the touch screen but, honestly, I don't fiddle with the temps that much anyway.

As for volume, I use the thumbwheel control on the steering wheel. Much easier than accessing the touch screen and it has good response to input.

I like the way it works.

The temperature and volume controls are on the Center Console Display. These controls can be very responsive, once you learn how to handle them. Be sure to use a little more pressure than you do on a non-haptic touchscreen. Just sit and play with it a little when you are parked, and you will get it. There are also various ways to use gestures: swipe two fingers up/down on the temp to change it, push and hold for larger change, swipe two fingers up/down on the blank "mousepad" area for volume control. I don't use the gestures, but some people might find them useful. The driver's primary control for volume is the left roller on the steering wheel. You can press it to mute (or roll it down very far instead), press or roll up to unmute. The bottom corner on the center display screen (the one up on the dash) will briefly show a musical note and the volume level number whenever you change volume, so that even if the content is silent at the moment, you can see how loud you are set.

I don't see any issue with volume control. I'll use the steering one as well most of the time., but anytime I have wife or friends on passenger side.. the first thing they do is change the temp on passenger side.

I have a lot of issues w/the nav/entertainment/communications package. 1 out of 5-10 times on startup, the nav map is in German. Traffic data does not load for at least 5 minutes and sometimes not at all. CarPlay sometimes connects and sometimes doesn't. You don't know until you are driving and have to pull over to fiddle with the connections. I can shut down the car listening SXM and when I get back in the car, CarPlay comes up. There are way too many "touches" required to switch between SXM stations, between playlists on iTunes, etc....in all, I think the human interface is pretty bad and wonder if it is the same in all Porsches.....I just switched from BMW and swore I would never own another one of those.....

Like I said, I don't play with the temp control a lot so I went out and operated it just now to refresh my memory.

As quickly as you can press and release the up or down arrow, the temperature changes by one degree. There is no delay. If you press and hold one of the arrows it takes about a second and then the temperature starts increasing or decreasing rapidly until you release.

I don't know what the YouTube video you watched depicted, but I honestly see no issues whatsoever with the response time of the temp buttons. I think your passengers will be fine with it.

It's perfectly fine so no concerns on that front. There are multiple ways to interact with it - tap +/-, swipe 2 fingers up / down or say 'Hey Porsche, it's getting cold in here!' ( and she will oblige...

Temperature screen responds great. I have noticed that the main screen is not always responsive. Changing to the next channel on SiriusXM may take more than one push, for instance. Oddly enough all other positions on the same screen seem to respond fine to the first touch.
