Living in Eastern Canada where road salt is used extensively during the winter, I park my Taycan in a heated garage all winter. This past winter I had a NOCO genius 2 trickle charger ( specified as being for LiFe batteries) plugged in all winter. Today I could not start the car, after its long winter nap. Does anyone else park their car for 5 months? How do you keep the 12V battery alive?

Same happened to me. Whole winter on trickle charger, then 2 weeks on AC charger without trickle and then dead.

Wake up BMS with 12V supply or jump starter. If your Noco has something like supply/wakeup/bypass/force mode then use it. The moment you use it, car wakes up which takes energy, try to immediatelly turn it off (lock) with keyfob. Hopefully this prevents another BMS shutdown as your Noco charger does not have enough power to supply that much energy. Keep Noco connected at least 10 hours, it should charge 50% of the battery (capacity is 40 Ah, your Noco has 2A power) and then you can start the car and plug in to AC charger.

Supposedly it should be resolved by newest WSS6 camaign.

The software bugs are just killing this car.

I would also check the NOCO charger is working. I just went through the same thing with a Genius2 and discover that the battery had died because the charger had failed. Upgraded to the Genius5.

Did the charger really die permanently? I find it very unlikely.

Is 12V battery in your Taycan ok now after staying in that discharded state for so long?
I don’t know yet. I am now trying to charge the battery with a second NOCO charger. I will post on the results tomorrow.

The NOCO LiFeP04 charger has now been on the Taycan’s 12V battery for 15 hours, with no change. Both the car and the battery are still dead.
The Taycan’s Owner’s Manual mentions on page 268 (English version) to “only use chargers that have been approved by the equipment manufacturer for LiFeP04 batteries with integrated electronic protection circuits.” It goes on to specify a “charging voltage of 14.8V and a maximum charging current of 90A.”
So I purchased the LiTime 80A charger on Amazon (not cheap), and I will hook up the battery to it when I receive it. I hope that the shock of a full charger will wake up the battery. I am not confident that it will work though.

The charger was delivered yesterday afternoon. The LiTime charger was hooked up to the 12V battery for 30 minutes. After 5 minutes I saw signs of life when the frunk light was flashing on and off. After 30 minutes I tried starting the car, and it started ! There were some software issues that flashed on the dashboard, but most went away. For example the dashboard told me that the right charge port door was not working ( I have electric opening). But when I tried it, the port door opened and closed properly. That fault and others disappeared from the dashboard. I drove the car for a while, and am still driving the car today. I have 2 faults still showing up after driving the car for 2 days: View attachment 90824

I am hopeful these will also disappear , otherwise will be removed by the dealer when I bring the car in at the end of the month for multiple recalls.

12V battery should be fine then. Lifepo cells survive below under voltage protection which is below 10.0V for years.
