ECU swap isn't convenient, but you need a spare one for warranty, to be safe.
Better safe than sorry

There is a market with many Taycan out of warranty at this point…and many that are leased and trashed…

Unless they are over 100,000 miles, none are out of warranty yet since none are more than 8 years old (HV battery warranty).

The current method is super easy to swap out the module in the trunk.

MapEV is also working on a way to swap the rear module with an extender so you only have to open the panels up once.

But even so the whole process is maybe 20 minutes with really basic tools.

This is cheaper though. 🤷‍♂️

Is it possible to buy a new asg module?

It is cheaper but is it like for like? MapEV includes a cloned ASG module, Litchfield is software only. Modifying the original ASG is where warranty concerns arise, regardless of the software being returned to original.

Other things MapEV do that is not mentioned by Litchfield is launch mode being available through flooring the accelerator, bypassing torque damping, modified transmission shift points and regen level options.

Hi,
Any links or forum posts on this information?

I have had the tune on my 4S from very early on (likely one of the very first users in the UK) and would love to have this extender function rather than having to swap the ESG each time for a dealer visit.
In principle, I understand and that it would be like 2 extra cables with connecting jacks that you plug/unplug - always thought that this kind of design would be so useful.

Can you point to something that has more information on this?

We can flash the original of course.

As for that company they ripped off the numbers from our website 1:1. And of course they don't make the advertised power and torque from a roll as no launch patch.

There is a public tool that can flash the earlier taycans now (before 06/2023), so that's what everyone is using who does not care about warranty on the car nor having the best performance possible.

The best part of the tune is having full power from a roll all the time!

Extra power but only if using launch mode isn’t of much use to me. 🤷‍♂️

If that’s the case I would probably be super frustrated with the tune. Losing 40 hp when not in launch mode feels acceptable. I can’t imagine being down 200 horsepower most of the time.

You will still have a lot of extra power, but not everything as BMS is not in launch mode.

Btw, just figured out I'd reiterate, because companies are advertising that it can be put back to stock.
For warranty purposes, any unsigned software download flags the ASG forever. It does not matter what you do with that afterwards - flash it to stock or not.

Has been like that on VWAG cars since 2015 or so, once the TC2xx and SPC5xxx processors came out with HSM (hardware security module). To this day, there is no aftermarket tool that can access the HSM and it's data on a production ECU. The HSM is constantly checking the software inside and if non-stock software is ever detected a permanent entry is made, and there is no way to reset it afterwards.

Porsche/Audi have been lenient with the warranty on these cars, but from my inside info there is a whole database already of VINs where cars with tuned modules were taken into the dealer. For them to deny the warranty on all of them is just flicking a switch. So doing any kind of modifications to the stock controller - that's what you're risking and why we never flash the stock one.
