The 12V battery is never under warranty.
Same as tires, brakes etc.

Are you saying that 12V is considered a wear and tear item and if it fails in factory warranty or in extended warranty then it is not covered. I will have to check on that.

Yup.
If you have a good relationship with your dealer there may be some goodwill but officially it's outside any warranty coverage.

Very helpful. I guess I can consider myself very lucky when my 12V locked up 2x times and was replaced under goodwill 2x times on the Cayenne at a retail cost of around $2,700 per incident. I value my relationship with my dealer that keeps me coming back for cars and services.

I will need a different level of luck with the addition of Macan EV that is on the boat now sailing from Emden to Baltimore. There seems to be ongoing software issues that do not get solved even for 2026 models.

There is a company that can convert you to AGM, but it also requires some programming. Won’t help the OP already at the dealer with the dead car.

That said, I would try having them NOT replace the 12V, charge it up and have it independently tested. It could have just been fully drained and then tested “bad.”

Yeah, I'm having to bite the bullet on it. They're giving me a discount, which is better than nothing. Got to drive a Macan EV Turbo for a month, which was nice, but I miss my car.

Not me, but I heard about it getting done.

Depends on the insurance laws where you live. Some “no fault” States have your insurance always responsible for your car.

I’ve got a 6 month old 12v battery. If I park it longer than a few days I have to put a tender on and play the “hide the key fob” game and fiddle with stuff until it will move. Does anybody know if interior monitoring pulls a heavy drain on the battery?

This isn’t normal. A few days definitely shouldn’t drain the 12v
