Yeah two. Tesla Model 3 and Y and in fact we traded in both at the 4 year mark just before the Tesla 4-year car warranty ran out - I got the Taycan, my wife the EQB. We like our car warranties let alone the battery warranty.two if you had two concurrently?
Owner of a 2020 Taycan Turbo, which I bought off-lease in 2024. It's relatively low mileage, at 30K. The CPO warranty is expiring soon and I'm on the fence on trading it in (for a low mileage Macan 4s perhaps) or extending warranty coverage out to 8 years, replacing the PSCB pads, and keeping it. But also wondering what happens then? I know these won't depreciate to $0, but will they be worth much for trade in or resale at that point? Without a battery warranty is the likely best choice just to keep driving it until a catastrophic failure occurs? I know there are options to extend coverage beyond 8 years, including the battery, but that doesn't look cheap. Hopefully new pads would be good for another 4 years at that point, and rotors still intact.
Interested in what MY20 and 21 owners are thinking. Expecting continued deep depreciation from years 6-8?
Curious - did the dealer check your SoH as part of their evaluation? Can I get a free SoH assessment if I propose a sale to a dealer? My 2025 can't be assessed by OBD per a member comment here.I was visiting our local dealer last week and out of curiosity asked what my car would be worth if I bought a new Taycan. My current 2021 Taycan 4s is at 38k miles and is in immaculate shape.
The dealer's assessed purchase value is $51,000, independent of whether I buy a new car or not. Original purchase price was $145k and change, I currently have an extended warranty, and my battery SOH is 87%.
While I think the offer is fair, if/when I buy the 718 EV, I plan to keep the Taycan. It is simply a great drive and works so well for all of my use cases![]()
Are you a member of the 80+ and still driving club? There’s a few folks here in it, and they give me hope (just joined the 50s).I get a real kick out of the idea that a guy my age drives a car like this. Another new car has lost appeal in the same way that foreign travel has lost its luster. I worry about the car, but got the warranty. If I were 40 years younger, I would probably graduate to the next greatest thing. Right now, I like the car, take pride in its ownership and (minimal) upkeep, and will probably keep it until I (or it) stop driving. After that I’ll probably take the bus around here (or walk), or a train for longer trips. It’s a nice car.

No, this wasn’t a dealer reading. I used a OBD reader on my 2021.Curious - did the dealer check your SoH as part of their evaluation? Can I get a free SoH assessment if I propose a sale to a dealer? My 2025 can't be assessed by OBD per a member comment here.
I’m keeping my 2021 Taycan RWD currently at 44K miles past 2030 when the extended warranty on the vehicle & the 8 year warranty on the battery both expire. I’ll have no more than 60K on it by 2030 and will keep it for another 15-20 years.Owner of a 2020 Taycan Turbo, which I bought off-lease in 2024. It's relatively low mileage, at 30K.
