Rich: I dropped my 4s off yesterday, but it takes a while to download the software and then update the car. I have not heard word yet on status, but sticking with the "car blowing up" theme earlier in this thread, I have not seen any smoking coming from the direction of the dealership, so I...
I dropped my 4s early this morning. Dealership said that downloading the software and then uploading into vehicle is taking longer than expected, so they kept the car overnight. Mine was the first '20 they've done, so they are not sure what to expect. Guess I will find out mid-day if...
@kort:
tell us a little more about the trip, please. I think you live in Florida, so you are blessed with warmer weather in March and should get better efficiency. Did you charge to 80% or 90% at home before you left? Did you drive like a wild man on the drive? What was your efficiency...
Andrew:
That is a good point - battery degradation. There is no real history out there on battery degradation on vehicles that have charged this fast. It will be interesting to see what the charging rates and limits look like in year two or year three of the vehicle life.
Going into a...
I stand corrected!!!!!
There was an article on the Electrek site the other day suggesting that the Hyundai IONIQ 5 was the new "king of charging." My charging session in Trinidad, CO blew it that video away. Sure, that car got to 80% battery in 16 minutes, but I charged 62kwh in 20...
James:
I drove from Indio, California to Buckeye, Arizona at the end of October last year and it was about 100F outside, but when I stopped to charge my initial charging speed was about 250kWh. I have seen slower speeds at 110F in Utah and 115F in Nevada, so that sweet spot may be around...
James:
This was the error I made when I charged at this location and was floored by the charging speeds - I did not get the car battery temp right at the moment. I had checked at various points throughout my drive yesterday and the battery was around 85F to 88F when I checked. Outside temps...
While this board sometimes tends to get caught up in the negative, I wanted to share a very positive Electrify America charging experience I had yesterday in Trinidad, Colorado. This site has been notoriously slow in the past, but yesterday the location made up for it!
I pulled in with 8%...
I thought I would share some data of my drive from Denver to Tucson over the past week and a half. I wanted to understand the efficiency impact of the Porsche roof rack on the drive and the efficiency impact of the roof rack with a road bike on top of the vehicle. I broke the drive into four...
@John89 :
Follow away, my man!! I am an a$$hole that enjoys sharing my adventures and experiences with my Taycan.
Honestly, if you ever want to discuss tips on using the Electrify America charging network I am open to discussing with you. You have an amazing car, hopefully one day you will...
Edmund:
I totally agree with your idea of creating a single new thread where everyone can unload EA complaints. I would also suggest we create a thread on how to use an EA charger if that EA charger, or the Taycan, is not Plug and Play enabled.
There is a particular rhythm to getting the EA...
Dave, thanks for sharing the info. Guess we will find out at some point if there is an update, and what enhancement it contains. Fingers crossed.
I am not ready to go back to a Model S, but if there are no Taycan improvements/enhancements in the next 6 months it may happen.
@daveo4EV :
Can you elaborate on the pending "big update?" Have you anything about timing, what the update will address?
Is it possible it can be an urban legend amongst Taycan owners wanting to believe improvements are coming?
Thanks,
James:
You are spot on. it is not the perfect car, but what is? At this point people need to do a lot of research in advance before making the investment in a Taycan.
Complaining about well known deficiencies after a Taycan purchase does no one any good.
And, agree with Dave. Let's lock...
Are you running winter tires on your car?
Are you planning on going more than 150 miles from your house any time soon and using the car to its potential?
Or are you just going to post cute details like this in threads on subjects you have no experience with? Since you have shared previously...
James:
No offense, man, but I do not know what you are talking about. No one is defending anything here, and there is no disagreement that the EA network needs improvement.
My issue for the past couple of days is that this forum has transitioned from a location to where people shared useful...
Good video. But, nothing new or groundbreaking in it. Most of what the dude shared has been covered ad nauseum. It is simply one video from one online reviewer.
Conversely, a member of this forum broke the record for the canon ball run from NYC to LA in a Taycan 4s two months ago and used...
You are wrong, and in no position to comment since you shared that you have only driven your car 175 miles at a time max.
There are a number of us on this site that have leveraged the Electrify America network successfully and gone on multiple 2,000 mile road trips. I have 12,000 miles on my...
Chris:
thanks for sharing that. I will have to try that out. I used an EV GO charger today in Tucson, and activated it with my EV GO App.
When I get back to Denver I will try the EV GO charger that is not too far from my house.
