I certainly get where you are coming from. For most road trips I would mimic what I do with my CT4S - charge for 20 to 25 minutes to get enough juice to get to the next charger since the Hummer actually charges faster than the Taycan.
Where the Hummer's appeal lies is driving the 210 miles...
I test drove the Hummer EV truck this weekend and was a little amazed on how the truck handles and its tech. Is it wrong to say I want one? It is like driving a dump truck that goes 0-60 in a little over 3 seconds. The car is a behemoth that gives a pretty commanding view of the road.

Now that the high speed charges are live in Socorro and Truth or Consequences, I am looking forward to diving conveniently south of Albuquerque on I-25 again.
When I have a little more time to burn, my next drive back from Scottsdale to Denver will be via Show Low heading to Socorro. It has...
I am definitely a little sore today.
I did get out every couple of hours to charge and pee, and used my massage seats, but my lower back certainly is feeling the affects.
I guess all the stars aligned on my trip yesterday. I even got great charging speeds in Santa Fe, where I have historically gotten solid, but not great speeds. When I saw I was getting +250kW speeds I was pretty shocked.
I hit a protruding chunk of metal the popped out in a gap from where a bridge meets a road way on hwy 36 between Denver and Boulder. It sent me airborne and snapped my steering column. The car sustained significant under carriage damage - the whole front sink had to be replaced. Over all...
I set a new personal record yesterday in single day long distance driving in my Taycan - I did a Phoenix to Denver run in 15 hours and covered 855 miles, or 1368km. I left my hotel in the Kierland area of north Scottsdale at 5:40am and I drove to my house in central Denver, arriving at 9pm...
Holy crap!!!!! That is absolutely horrible. I have never had any issues at that charger, but like you said, you just never know. This is why I wish Telsa would hurry up and roll out CCS converters on superchargers since it is faster than waiting for new chargers to be installed with the...
To be honest, I have had about as much drama as I can take with cars over the past four months, so I may be a little on the negative side these days when it comes to all things EV.
I am still dealing with the State of Colorado and their outsourced claims team, so that is pending. The CT4S...
Oh, I am still here! I got the CT4S back about three weeks ago, but have been busy with work. Nothing like back to back five day trips to San Diego in October for work, just to come back to the first snow storm of the year in Colorado and the nine inches of snow it brought with it.
I am...
This is absolute insanity. Glad you made out of that harrowing situation.
What kind of car were you in? Hopefully the drunk driver was sentences to jail for that madness.
Great to see you getting out on adventures with your son in the Taycan. It is a lot more versatile of a vehicle than people know.
I have a CT4s now, but I had the Taycan sedan in 2020, 2021, and the first half of 2022. I used to take my road bike or mt. bike with me all over the western part...
I am pretty sure my insurance company will not agree to writing off the vehicle since the repair bill is just under $30k. That is a big financial gap between paying $30k for repairs, or giving me $160k to buy a like CT4s.
My CT4s was $155k when I ordered it last year, so buying a like 2023...
I am not sure, but sounds about right for the individual cost of each screw. I guess it takes a lot of bolts and screws to keep the molding and plates on the underside of the vehicle safely in place.
It was on 36 just outside of Boulder before the Foothills Parkway exit.
And, yeah, they fixed the damage that night after multiple cars besides mine were impacted.
This was the repair work done overnight - they fixed the metal lining in the gap that had popped up and got me, and then they put...
Airborne, and then when we hit the ground the metal object had severed the steering, so the steering wheel would not turn.
That is why we got lucky - the wheels were still pointed mostly straight so I did not hit any cars around us, nor fly off the highway at 70mph.
Just writing about it...
At this point, I am not going to argue with the Porsche tech's. The front bottom of the car was involved in hitting a stationary metal object that did not give way at 70mph. The car went airborne.
I would rather have insurance pay to replace the screws out of an abundance of caution. If...
I hit a metal object protruding from roadway doing 70mph in a car that weighs 6,000lbs. The vehicle went airborne and the steering snapped. I was lucky to walk away in one piece.
As long as I have the ability and enjoy driving a Porsche, and can afford it, I will continue to do my part to...
I recently shared that I hit a piece of metal sticking straight up in the air as it was wedged in a gap between a bridge and the roadway, and wanted to provide a quick update now that I have received the estimate back from my local Porsche dealership. I have to admit I got super lucky since...
