Seems that Ferrari was so busy trying to make a clean break from its ICEV design that they completely forgot to consider whether that clean break resulted in a design anyone would want to buy…
Thanks for the write up.
in 2021 I did a road trip with friends along the southern shore of Lake Superior - similar route to yours, I'd bet. Basically Ontonagon to Sault Ste. Marie (and then to near Petoskey MI).
At that time there were NO DCFC stations along our route, so I charged overnight...
The MB’s battery has ~10% more storage capacity than the Taycan’s largest battery, and the MB has 3 motors rather than the Taycan’s 2; these differences largely explain why the MB’s weight is similar.
If you're a legacy auto manufacturer, you have an enormous amount of assets dedicated to building ICEVs, so OF COURSE you'd much rather continue to do that than to gear up to make EVs.
The problem is that no technology that's at best 30% efficient in converting energy to work has any long-term...
I attempted to make this same point a few months ago and was roundly lambasted for “not understanding” the model hierarchy.
That said, this is exactly Porsche’s (or Prosche’s) current predicament.
Not sure whether you’re simply being deliberately obtuse or haven’t understood much of what’s been posted in this thread, but I’m done interacting with you about it.
Enjoy your Taycan.
Among the highest, yes, and also among the highest customer retention percentage as well.
It seems that really happy Tesla owners piss off owners of other brands, which is ironic/hilarious/sad - take your pick.
You do understand that this “data” suggests that Porsches average 1.75 problems per vehicle while Tesla averages 2.52, right?
2.52 is definitely higher than 1.75, but “slightly less than 2” vs “slightly more than 2” is hardly a catastrophic/significant difference.
JD Power is to be respected...
We own 3 Teslas, with a combined well over 150,000 miles.
None has ever needed any service at all outside of regular maintenance…(brake fluid change on one)
I had similar thoughts when I bought my first EV and then drove my previously “fast” tuned Audi one last time before I sold it - no comparison.
The EV simply murdered the Audi in every way except sound and looks!
I'm sure you'll enjoy owning/driving it!
I ran into auto journalist Jonny Lieberman at Newcomb's Ranch / GVBC last year when he had a Taycan Turbo GT Weissach for evaluation. It was cool talking with him about the car and watching it do its "suspension quick lift" trick when a door is opened...
Nor do I, at least on the Taycan
A 5100-lb sedan that sacrifices rear seats to save 100 lbs is nuts, IMO.
I respect its performance, but even if I had the means, I wouldn’t buy it.
By contrast, the Lucid Air Sapphire sacrifices no practicality to achieve its identical or better performance...
LOL.
There were literally *zero* high performance, long range luxury EVs prior to the Model S.
Now there are many, because the Model S showed that it was a viable, profitable market niche.
But thanks, at least, for commenting on the actual content of the video!
