At some point they made the default charge current 20A, presumably to avoid paying for people with sub standard wiring setting their homes on fire. You had to override that setting (I forget where). Perhaps the setting got reset to the default in the firmware update?
Off thread topic, but can I ask what kind of winter tyres you're using? So far I haven't invested in a second set of wheels for the Taycan but curious to hear recommendations on tyres.
Correct procedure is:
Turn on vehicle.
Sit in driver seat.
Wait for screen to turn on.
Observe 12V rail voltage (should be displayed on right, if not configure display appropriately).
Voltage should start out at around 13.5V.
If the 12V battery needs to be charged the voltage displayed will...
It's NOT incorrect, and has nothing to do with the manual. It's covered in this separate document Porsche published covering long term storage: https://static.nhtsa.gov/odi/tsbs/2022/MC-10209809-0001.pdf It says "don't use the Porsche battery maintainer" and "charge with a charger that supplies...
I performed the experiment once so far. Result appears to confirm the theory that initiating a remote pre-climate command does indeed have the side effect that the 12V battery is charged.
My vehicle had been sitting for a couple of weeks. I initiated a remote pre-climate command this morning...
Good question. I will test this, see if it charges the battery. You can tell by re-starting the vehicle shortly after then check how long the 12V bus voltage stays at 14V.
It's been extensively documented here and elsewhere that this is a bug. I've had it happen many times and I never drive with fewer than two hands on the wheel.
Yes, you do need something to get the 12V Li battery (I think it's LFP) to boot back up. I used a donor AGM battery. Typically "chargers" don't work because they see zero volts and conclude no battery is connected. The "Lithium" 12V batteries aren't really batteries (obviously there are battery...
Ok, a few replies re-stating the common beliefs about this, which empirically seem to not be valid, at least not for all cars. There was a similar post here a few weeks ago, so it's not just me.
But the diagram above was useful. I'm wondering if this is the vehicle's behavior:
12V battery is...
2021 4S : sitting in the garage for 3 weeks with main battery at 50% SoC.
Tonight I receive two phone calls (which I ignore because...telemarketers) that turn out to be from Porsche (actually Vodafone), saying that they think my Taycan might have been stolen or "sabotaged". We live in the...
I've been working on brakes since the 1980s so no concern about how to do it. I again question that brake fluid needs to be changed every two years. I know that the people who make lots of money changing it tell us that it needs to be changed every two years. Obviously change it when any brake...
Also questionable whether it actually needs to be changed. When you get to charge folks $1000 for changing brake fluid guess what...you recommend it needs changing pretty frequently.
Certainly an extra risk, but if a dealer will sell a warranty on the vehicle that puts things back at par with a CPO vehicle. For a remote purchase, the seller being a dealer doesn't do much for you because you'd have to take the car back to that dealer to invoke any sort of responsibility they...
Hello, I have a very similar car. I had trouble parsing all your post, including where the vehicle is located (must not be CO since you mention shipping). Some quick thoughts, feel free to ask follow up:
Regarding heater etc you are really asking if the outstanding recall work has been done...
Software guy here. My 2021 bought CPO early 2025 after all the recall work was done has worked flawlessly. However, I share your frustration about the software. The thing is: this general "software enchittification" syndrome applies to pretty much everything today. Point of sale terminals, web...
Seems that Thailand is the place to go for independent Taycan service, based on the posts here. They know much more than the Porsche designers of the vehicle!
I don't think this happened in your car (2 weeks is still way too short), but rather it explains the response of the tech. They were referring to a no longer present failure mode. The actual failure mode is still unknown.
