  1. Battery Issues

I should add that these cars have two batteries: the obvious big one that drives the wheels, and a second small one that's similar in purpose to the battery in an ICE car. There are two batteries for a mixture of technical and regulatory reasons. Anyway, the small battery (usually called the...
  2. Battery Issues

Two weeks is nothing. I had a Lithium battery die in an ICE Cayenne and during the course of getting that replaced under warranty Porsche people told me that they expect a vehicle (ICE in this case) to be driven at least every 6 weeks. Our Taycan can go many weeks without being driven but I do...
  3. Need Title Help & Escalation contacts at Porsche NA

I've bought several Porsche in CA and I live in another state (MT, not UT). Frustratingly not one time has the paperwork process been the same (even with the same dealer). But in chasing down the snags I've learned that every dealer has a person who is responsible for titles and suchlike. So...
  4. Thinking of buying a 2022 taycan 4s, but trying to calculate the real cost of ownership per year

Oh, interesting. I had previously heard that this was to do with "German roads don't have long straight sections like the US has" and hence only fixable by driving on curvy roads. Don't suppose you know the work order code for this fix so I can ask my dealer about it?
  5. Charging doesn't stop to the 80% limit set.

Some day this will be a case study in human-machine interface class. It's hard to imagine anything more screwed up than a car where it's important not to charge above 80% but nobody can figure out how to tell it to do that.
  6. Should I buy a Taycan

All good points. My experience has been (in the US) that dealers will send the sticker PDF and "build sheet" without hesitation to me via email. I don't offer them the opportunity to decline, just say "send me the build sheet". Once you are the owner, this information is available via the...
  7. Should I buy a Taycan

2021 4S here, CPO. No problems so far. I'm an electronics (and software) engineer and have kept up with the recalls, battery shenanigans and so on. We have other ICE Porsche vehicles. For me the Taycan is a way to get a very fast, very good looking, reasonably practical car for about 1/2 what...
  8. Class action filed Sept 25 against Porsche

Quick note that everyone in Europe/UK has 220/240, since that's the electricity standard (no 110/120). Parent is talking about 3-phase supply to get higher current/power than standard. Nobody in the US has 3-phase to their residential location.
  9. Class action filed Sept 25 against Porsche

I had a similar experience with a Cayenne (ICE, but it has a lithium battery). Porsche were unsure what the problem was. When the flat bed guy showed up (in a place with very few Porsche) he immediately said "oh that battery costs $2000 and will need to be replaced, can't be revived".
  10. Class action filed Sept 25 against Porsche

That's wrong. It has nothing to do with "charging on the road", only charging at home (or perhaps, but very unlikely, at a hotel or an office). The "onboard charger" is a thing that deals with adapting "wall power" to what the car needs to charge. A "road charger" already supplies what the...
  11. NACS DC adapter connection order

Guessing either "for legal reasons", perhaps something like: the port on the car has a physical plug detection capability. If you plug in something that's passive the controller will see a "something plugged in" event but no communication from the charger, for the time it takes you to plug in...
  12. LTE and Traffic Stopped working

Not an answer, but I have several Porsche vehicles and they all exhibit some randomness in this area. Same with displaying road speed limit (the cars that get that over the air rather than sign-reading). Sometimes it's there, sometimes it isn't. One car that I drove for years assuming it didn't...
  13. CELL reception w/ INSULATED glass - southeast US??

If there is an issue (haven't noticed a problem myself) it could affect higher frequencies. The US carriers are mostly using 700MHz outside cities (low frequency) which might explain why US folks don't report issues. Higher frequencies are used for 5G in dense areas but if your phone falls back...
  14. 2024 new Taycan marked by dealer as used on Sale Contract

Perhaps this depends on the state. I've bought several vehicles like this (dealer-owned, low miles). In CA they literally grab you by the lapels and yell at you that the car is USED, and make you sign 6 times to confirm you understand it is USED.
  15. 2022 Taycan CT 4S, 11k miles. $80k

Seems rather high for the LA area and options mix.
  16. some people hold both taycan and 911 ?

    If we're going there: I have a Taycan and a TR6.
  17. some people hold both taycan and 911 ?

Taycan and 718 Boxter S here.
  18. Odd Question: Does a Glock 19 (or similarly sized gun) fit inside the Taycan glove box?

Now all we need is a thread about Hitler and we're set.
  19. Looking to buy a CPO Taycan 4S in the future. What are your Must-Have Specs?

For a cold climate daily driver heated steering wheel is nice to have (separate option from the heated seats).
  20. Heavy charging cords

Presumably the cables also need to be armored to mitigate vandal attacks.
