Emden to Grismby - any movement?

Does make you wonder why a company as big as the VW group has a single source for the battery? Although I’m sure everyone in purchasing will be Teflon coated and the fault will be engineering! Not that I used to work in automotive design?

    Keyless start Faraday box

Did seem to be a biased list with Thatcham sponsorship! Especially as BMW is one of the easy makes for the thieves. I think I’ll still keep my keys in a tin and forgo the comfort entry. . .

    12 Volt Battery Shortage

Yes my GTS ST is stuck at Emden awaiting the 12V battery! Should have been at the dealership next week. The good news, it is built. . . Kinda worrying a battery factory goes up in flames. Let’s hope these 12V batteries aren’t from LG Chem? Haven’t been working well in iPace and Bolt. Although...

Update to software network VR19.0.1. Campaign number WNJ8 (UK)

Yes, also. After the update. I’ve not got comfort entry, don’t trust it, but it was handy having handles lift if car was unlocked when you approach. Apparently that feature was a bug and has been removed. . .

Kind of feeling screwed over. Placed over in Dec 2021 and still no allocation

I was lucky, phoned the dealer on Nov 17 last year at 9:00am with the instruction “ place a dummy GTS ST order now and I will come in later and amend the spec’.” I was the first in the queue for an ST. Car is built and - should - be here 12th August, maybe. Unfortunately the second buyer on the...

Do you need the surface coated brakes?

My feeling is - unless you must have mission E wheels - not to bother. Reason? My 4S has lived outside in the UK for over 2 years. Has never been in the garage and yet, no sign of any rust or corrosion on any of the discs. In fact I’m not sure if they are even used. If you go by the amount of...

Official Porsche Announcement: PCM Update Coming to All Model Years w/ Faster Charging, Infotainment Improvements and Range Bump

And think of the cost. Say 100 something an hour, times 75,000 cars at a book time of 3hrs. That 26 million! And it’s taking days, not hours. They really do need OTA updates to work better. They also need WiFi connection as well when we are at home. . .

My Porsche (UK) not showing car production progress at the moment.

Mine entered paint today, details from SA. Nothing showing on website.

Official Porsche Announcement: PCM Update Coming to All Model Years w/ Faster Charging, Infotainment Improvements and Range Bump

Still in! Looks like a 3 day job. Tech’ told me book time is 3.5 hours. At this rate, with 75,000 to update, it’s going to cost Porsche a lot of money not using OTA updates. . Hoping to pick car up tomorrow morning.

Bjorn panning 800 volts vs 400v

The important bit is I2R losses. End of story. Higher the voltage, lower the current, lower losses. That’s why 66kV overhead supply lines are so small And large factories are powered from 11kV supplies. Porsche started with the correct voltage, not Tesla.

Major software update announcement coming July 13th…

Yes thanks, done that now it sort of works. Saying that, I think the display is better just using the iPhone as a player, rather than car play!

Major software update announcement coming July 13th…

I had it working with wired connection only. So you think it should work over blue tooth on a 2020 model?

Major software update announcement coming July 13th…

I just want Apple car play to work wireless!

    GTS delivery date confirmed

For me the HUD has an issue when I drove a car with it. Having older eyes, I was finding focussing on it started to induce eye strain. Therefore, was off my list.

    Repeated PCM Calendar app updates

While you are at it, I keep getting a prompt about media player (my iPhone) volume to get the best quality. It’s ticked to not show again but does daily!

    Taycan.2

I understand most of your points and i fully agree batteries are the future and the key. However, Porsche will protect its cars, especially the Taycan. You wouldn’t buy a 911 to get 50 mpg? And I’m sure range didn’t stop you ordering a Taycan. I suspect Porsche will - at a price - do a battery...

    Taycan.2

How about a red overboost button in the centre of the drive select switch? Would be great to get the extra power option on demand, even if only for 10 seconds a time.

I just can’t believe it! Almost 2 years in Taycan 4S+!

20 inch turbo aero wheels and Michelin tyres.

I just can’t believe it! Almost 2 years in Taycan 4S+!

So the trip back: weather not so good and quite windy. Nevertheless still very good mileage. Started 100% and back home with 62%, so 38% used for the 120 mile trip. Equates to better than 315 mile for a full charge. I’m more than happy with that. I know all the numbers don’t all agree, must be...
