    Well that was crap!

I had a similar problem at an EVgo station in Pennsylvania. Finally got the charger to start the initialization process by shutting off the car prior to inserting the DC charger plug.

J1772 plug locked on driver side (non-DC side).

Unfortunately, I was not very methodical when I tried various things to release the plug. The red light might have come on when I pressed the button after I flipped the breaker to the off position.

J1772 plug locked on driver side (non-DC side).

Yes, I also forgot to mention at one point the button turned red but only for a second. Next time this happens I will note the exact sequence of things I tried.

J1772 plug locked on driver side (non-DC side).

Had my MY2022 Taycan CT charging last evening as usual with a target of 85%. Charge completed this morning as expected. The only error message on the phone app was, "Unable to reach the set target charge". This happens frequently even though the target charge of 85% was reached. I went to...

    Good Bye $7,500 tax credit!

Very unlikely. A VIN has nothing to do with making the agreement a "written binding contract to purchase". If the dealer offers to sell you a car, you accept, both parties provide consideration, both parties intend to be legally bound, and both parties are legal entities (i.e. not a minor) then...

Federal Tax Credit -- What happens if someone gets into a binding agreement today before the new bill is signed?

You should qualify for the credit. Make sure the order document does not say "this is not an offer". If the car is delivered in 2023 it's not clear whether the credit should be taken in 2022 or 2023. I say this because the IRA text says transactions that qualify as "transition" orders can be...

    Good Bye $7,500 tax credit!

Anyone who does not have a written binding contract to purchase by tomorrow can forget about the $7500 tax credit for a Taycan (or any other EV not made in North America). Fisker, Rivian, and Lucid acted quickly to give their customers a chance to upgrade pre-orders to binding contracts. MB...

Infrastructure Bill passed. I don’t think this is good.

The bill does not retroactively change the rules for transactions that took place prior to enactment (date signed). But it does change the rules for all transactions occurring after the bill is signed, which is at most a couple of days from now. The only way to get the credit on a Taycan after...

    Good Bye $7,500 tax credit!

I don't think that not having an allocation would necessarily invalidate the EV tax credit. It would still be possible to execute a written binding contract where the dealer promises to deliver a car and the purchaser promises to pay for it. I do agree that most of the pre-order deposit receipts...

    Good Bye $7,500 tax credit!

I doubt that. Your CPA will not be able to convert a non-binding contract into one that qualifies when you get audited one or two years down the road.

    Good Bye $7,500 tax credit!

One of the elements of a binding contract is that it must include an offer from one party to the other. I don't think it requires a non-refundable deposit since a promise to pay upon delivery would qualify as consideration. But an agreement that included "This is not an offer" text would...

Infrastructure Bill passed. I don’t think this is good.

So much for the IRA reducing inflation..... Ford just raised the price of the F-150 Lightning by $8500. Looks like the $55K and $80K MSRP thresholds are going to be obsolete before the effective date of the IRA of 2022.

    Good Bye $7,500 tax credit!

In the first case, you get the tax credit provided that you placed a “written binding contract to purchase”. In the second case, I think you are out of luck. The transition period rule specifies that a written binding contract must be in place before Biden signs. The IRA says the new rules are...

    Good Bye $7,500 tax credit!

I think we may be in agreement, now. But, I am not certain. Earlier you said, "If the effective date of 1/1/23 stays at final signing into law, then you will need to take delivery (put in service) your Taycan by 12/31/2022 to qualify to get the tax credit of $7,500 for Tax Year 2022." I don't...

    Good Bye $7,500 tax credit!

The way the IRA text reads (to me) is that only vehicles where there is a "written binding contract to purchase" in place prior to the enactment of the bill (i.e. the date Biden signs it into law) will qualify for the $7500 tax credit under the old rules. The new rules regarding MSRP cap, AGI...

Infrastructure Bill passed. I don’t think this is good.

The way the IRA bill reads, it's not clear that a transaction entered into after Biden signs the bill will qualify for the credit even if the car is delivered in 2022. In other words, if you jump on a car in dealer inventory in the next few days before the IRA is signed into law, then you will...

    Good Bye $7,500 tax credit!

There is a transition period but the rules for making a qualifying purchase during this period are ambiguous. Clearly, any transaction for a vehicle ordered and delivered after 31-Dec-2022 falls under the new rules for MSRP cap, AGI amount, and USA content. And any transaction with a "written...

    Dealer relationship and future servicing

You are probably over thinking this . But if you want to avoid the salesman you can schedule your car for early service appointments. The sales guys are rarely at the dealership in the early morning.

Latest Taycan Software Update Findings and Reviews Thread

Received a call this morning at 7:00am from the SA at the dealership asking me to postpone my 8:30am appointment to apply the software uPdate. He said that their lead Porsche technician requested the delay based upon experiences of other techs who reported hardware failures after attempting to...

    Winter daily?

I had the Taycan CT parked out side at a hotel this past January. Overnight freezing rain covered all the cars with a 1/4" thick sheet of ice. Other guests spent 30 to 60 minutes clearing ice and dealing with frozen doors. I turned on the cabin heat from the hotel room and when out to the car an...
