The Tesla Gen 3 Wall Connector with J1772 plug is not shown on the Tesla website, but the product does apparently exist. Here's a YouTube link showing the new Gen 3 Wall Connector:
This video also compares the J1772 Gen 2 Wall Connector to the latest Gen 3 version. The actual plug on the new...
Two possibilities for the failure of the adapter come to mind....
1) Was the destination charger a Gen 3 Tesla Wall Connector model with Access Control set to Only Tesla? It would not be possible to visually confirm the Access Control setting, but the hotel manager may know if the charger is...
I have yet to see a Gen 3 Tesla Wall Connector in the field being used as a destination charger at a hotel or other commercial location. But, I assume some of the destination chargers are the Gen 3 Wall Connector which features Access Control with three possible settings - All Vehicles, Only...
Were you able to confirm that the destination charger was in fact working with a Tesla staying at the hotel? It would seem to me that the destination charger is the first thing you would want to rule out as an issue.
Thanks for your suggestions.
I considered the Mustart Gen 2 Travelmaster for $379 and the J+ Booster 2 for $700, but in the end I ordered the Tesla Gen 2 Mobile Charger ($200 from Tesla online store) along with the Lectron Tesla to J1772 adapter ($149 from Lectron website). I had good service...
Most of the short extension cord style 14-50 to 6-50 adapters are made in China. I did actually order one that claims to be made in the USA but have not received it yet.
Given that the PMC+ is already a risky product to use, I did not want to give Porsche an opportunity to blame an adapter made...
I ordered my Taycan CT with a NEMA 6-50 power cord for the PMC+ EVSE. I am planning to visit some friends and family with a NEMA 14-50 outlet in their garages. The various power cords all seem to have the same part number except for the two character suffix. The part number for the 6-50 cable is...
My car is going in for the ANA6 update tomorrow. I am bringing along my PMC+ for the WMP2 recall as well. Is the WMP2 just documentation and a sticker or is the PMC+ modified via firmware so that it operates at a lower rate. When using my PMC+ on a 40 Amp 240v circuit the car charges at 8.6 kW...
I have driven 10K miles over a period 10 months in my Taycan CT4. I have yet to see another Taycan CT of any trim level in Pennsylvania, Ohio, New York, New Jersey, Vermont, Connecticut, Rhode Island, Massachusetts, or Maine. I have seen several Taycan sedans including one FBM one. Taycan is...
After less than one year of ownership I am already at that step. Unfortunately, I have doubts that my next EV (whatever it is) will be significantly better. Realistically, I don't have enough years left to purchase a car with the intention of keeping it long term (5 to 10 years). I have pretty...
Dropped car off at 8:45am on 6-Sep. My 2022 CT 4 is the first ANA6 update the dealership has attempted. I don't expect to pick up the car before the end of the day today. I was told that the car has been in a service bay since 9:00am on Tuesday. Having a loaner makes the process fairly painless.
I should add that Tesla is not on my list of EVs to consider as a replacement for the Taycan CT4. Although it was a reliable car, life is too short to drive a car with the fit and finish flaws that are common place on Tesla vehicles.
I am hoping my dealer finally agrees to install the ANA6...
I experienced the blank screens once where I had to pull off onto the shoulder "blind" because I could not turn on the defrost. I get the flickering passenger screen at least once per month. It usually clears up after stopping and restarting the car. I complained about the flickering passenger...
I have used the PMC+ several times without issues since dealing with the stubborn Grizzl-E connector. As I recall the last thing I tried to remove the plug when it was stuck was to restart charging with Direct Charging and press the button next to the port. The plug was released and I have not...
Since audits will take place a couple of years after the relevant tax return the amount "returned" will be increased by interest and penalties. I could see the IRA assessment being closer to $10K.
I tried the portable Porsche charger (with the 220v Nema 6-50 plug) and I was able to remove the J1772 connector without any issues after the charging session ended.
I then tried the Grizzl-E Classic EVSE on the same driver side port and again was not able to remove the connector until I cut...
