Do they actually require any hw/sw changes to the cars? I’ve always assumed that they just keep a whitelist of MAC addresses. Didn’t Ford just send out a dumb pass-through adapter to their existing customers without any other changes?
Overcharging however implies charging an already fully charged battery and has nothing really to do with potential damages from high power fast charging. Overcharging shouldn't be a problem since it should be handled by the controller, but this was most likely a case of defective battery modules...
I'm still struggling to mentally grasp that we're now almost flat charging at over 300 kW without the entire thing going up in flames. I still remember how impressed I was with the old Tesla Model S that could momentarily peak at mind boggling 120 kW and get an almost full charge in as little as...
Yeah, if you’re not getting a significant discount I don’t see why one wouldn’t just spec their own build. I wasn’t particularly quick to order, and my estimated delivery date is mid June.
In my opinion, if there's one thing one shouldn't cheap out on with an EV, it's anything related to charging. It's essentially like insurance. Even if there's a chance that you'll never need 400V charging, if you don't have it the one time you actually need it, it might be the difference between...
They seem to have developed the instrument cluster a bit in MY25, so hopefully they'll release an update for the older cars later, like they did with MY22.
Relatively minor changes, honestly. They did some drivetrain updates with the MY22, added plug&charge and a major software update, but I think most of that was eventually pushed to the earlier models too.
MY23 added a few new options like the variable panoramic roof and rear entertainment...
This makes me very glad that I specced glossy black and carbon fibre over turbonite. I really don't get this new colour. Even worse that they barely have any samples available.
People keep complaining about touch screens, but capacitive buttons are straight up a spawn from hell. It's taking the bad parts of physical buttons and splicing it with the bad parts of touch screens to create an absolutely unusable abomination.
If I could time travel and remove two people...
Could be anything really. Since it works on the passenger side, it’s probably not a major electrical issue at least. If you’re lucky it’s just a matter of a dirty latch not engaging properly, but you should really just take it to a service centre and have it checked.
I would love to see the extent of how megafucked the car's... everything is after that. It's Dubai, though, so I'm guessing it was already supposed to be a single use vehicle.
I think it's very obvious what the next Taycan needs to be or Porsche will crash and burn.
Max 20kW charging because that’s the maximum any charger can possibly output so any more than that is pointless and offensive.
5 minute 0-99% charging. Possibly stretch that to 6 minutes, otherwise longer...
I would care to not just assume that the Macan won’t depreciate just as quickly as a Taycan. I think the main problem is that the market for used high-end EVs is pretty much non-existent. With EV technology moving so incredibly fast, anyone who can afford such cars will want to buy new...
