@Larkey just to add that its clear the new crack goes all the way through ??, unlike the first two cracks so I’m actually in a worse position than before the roof was replaced. For now it remains watertight but its a worry on that count too.
Agreed, though I’d shared this thread with the techs and they’d had a good look. Definitely unrelated to the roof bars (my early theory) but no sign of the possible welding issues also mentioned in this thread. Guess will take some of the cars going into Porsche directly to get some laser...
Sure, they’ve been great so no issue naming, its Hatfield. Definitely think a concerted dealer and customer pressure on Porsche is needed.
I’d still say my Taycan interior is way nicer than any Tesla school canteen though (they should copy your cracked roof to give their interior some...
I think I beat you... just picked mine up. Small crack had appeared between the service tech (who has been fantastic, no issue on the dealer side at all) moving the car to the forecourt and me picking up. Plus side is we both saw it and he was straight off to call corporate (never seen anyone...
For sure, I’m reading your reply as effectively being in agreement with my commentary. Old world or new, all we can do is make sure our vehicles aren’t the lowest hanging fruit.
iPace was improved with UWB in the fob which I think has moved to the newer RR's I believe. That being said I know of ones that have been stolen but don't know if that was down to physical break in and ODB port shenanigans, physical key theft or some way around UWB comms (we all know that if...
I think the comment about owners not having comfort access still being at risk is technically correct but I'm with your sentiment. Anything can be hacked or stolen, security is about making the effort to do so not worth bothering with. Whilst I haven't seen any studies on the Taycan...
The fact Porsche explicitly cover their arses in the configurator
“Note: Comfort Access uses state-of-the-art technology. However, it cannot be completely ruled out that the key’s wireless encryption code is intercepted and used to open or steal the vehicle”
Was enough to confirm my decision...
My car is currently having a can opener to the original pano roof for a replacement one that by all accounts may just crack again.
On the plus side did check with dealer this morning if the new PCM was downloadable, said it was and will do it this week whilst completing the roof replacement.
Yep, though supposedly its been fixed with it now ok to use 32A single phase AC with the 22kW option. My car is updated and, liking to live dangerously, I’ve returned my home single phase to 32A from 24A.
Oh no, thats the first I’ve heard of the exterior being affected! Mine is still with the dealer as were having trouble getting the roof off. Said no problem as rather not rush it (they’ve been good tbh, they just need more info from Porsche who seem to be playing it very close to their chest on...
That, is both shite and worrying.......
Mine never got any worse , well apart from the Cayenne Tank courtesy car till my (first ?) replacement roof is done. Sure its all very good if you are into that kind of bus height ride but definitely can’t wait for Friday to get the CT back. If it cracks...
Great insight thanks. Just dropping mine off right now (finally, will almost miss the crack as its nearly all I’ve known in my 3 months ownership ?). Will ask the same of mine too and hopefully if they know it will match.
Well, still away on business but had a message saying that mine hasn’t been done as the bodyshop didn’t have the right specialist tools yet and there aren’t any at any UK sites….
At least the 22kW and instrument cluster campaigns have been done whilst away.
Oh wow, then that gives a long spread. Will definitely be pushing for confirmation they’ve identified the issue! Could be why I had to wait 9 weeks or so whilst they identified the root cause.
He does generally go into that level of detail being fair but I get your point. Refreshing that its focus on design as opposed to just “ooh look an exascale computer pointlessly shoehorned into a car” stuff.
I quite like it, but I’m a fan of the Ioniq 5 design vs the EV6 (which I find to be a dogs dinner) already.
Nice to see such options and choice, at some point if I wan’t to ever retire I’ll need to downsize and I’d take something like an Ioniq 6 vs an anodyne Model 3 any day.
Really like the...
