I had one of those adapters, and it killed my charger in the car. It's only a passthrough, so there is no communication with the charger. They fixed it, but said not to use it again. I would imagine that the Porsche one talks to the charger.

They up side is that they don't repeat, and they are on top of everything. They paid for my charger system even after using it on a non standard adapter, saying that it shouldn't have failed. When it starts going back for the same problem is when I'll get pissed.
