  1. Regeneration dial

I noticed this recently. It makes sense and is quite enlightening. How much power it can put back into the battery from braking works the same way as charging does. It's possible to charge much faster at lower states of charge, but with very high state of charge the max charging speed is slow...
  2. Taycan roadtrip for newbie EV owner was a bust

Yes, this concept of an RFID tag stored digitally in the phone, is actually a new one for me. Didn't know that is possible. Interesting. That is probably just as reliable as using the tags, and perhaps a bit more convenient as you always have the phone closeby. So essentially this means there...
  3. Taycan roadtrip for newbie EV owner was a bust

This is a good thread, likely very useful stuff to learn here for many Taycaners new to EVs. I hope OP doesn't get too depressed by this experience to not try a roadtrip again anytime soon. As many have said here such a route can be driven, but it does require a bit more learning & planning to...
  4. Odd noice from AC or battery?

Haven't heard this from my 4S.
  5. Don Breaks His Taycan - The Saga of the 12v Battery

Yesterday I experienced the same issue that evanevery mentioned in this thread, that is the car just starting radio playback by itself and the screen shows a loading icon (indefinitely). Car itself was not on otherwise. I have to put a disclaimer here that this could have been my dogs fault. My...
  6. Don Breaks His Taycan - The Saga of the 12v Battery

Usually, at least with my Taycan, it will start itself up by itself if I'm just sitting in the car with my keys in my pocket. No need to push the start button. Sometimes this does not work and I need to press the button. But 75% of the time it starts by itself. Which is nice. So, I'm just...
  7. Service campaign / software update notice

This is the same stuff that was updated in the recent update campaign. Nothing new in the list. So this letter is a bit outdated and concerns only those who haven't had the update yet.
  8. My Taycan 4S is here!

The broken headlight was fixed last week and they applied the software updates at the same time. Driven approx 500km since. Car is pristine again and no issues from the update. Life is good.
  9. Issues with car post WLG2 Campaign software updates and 12v battery

I've now driven approx 500km after the update & no issues. Replacement of the 12V battery was not necessary in my case, it was purely a software update.
  10. On Board Charger and Direct Charging ?? What, why and how?

DC stands for Direct Current and has nothing to do with the "Direct charging" feature. Direct charging means essentially "profile bypass" meaning you'll bypass any profiles when AC charging (at home for the example). Use of profiles is disabled automatically when DC charging so the feature can't...
  11. My Taycan 4S is here!

Did some testing regarding phantom drain. Had the car sitting idle for 1 week and it lost 1% of charge during that time. This is another confirmation that it is not a problem to just let the car be for many weeks if needed. If you're wondering why I had the car sitting idle for a week, I had to...
  12. Anyone happy with the standard sound system?

Fully agree with this! I have Bose which I think is fine. Burmester is probably a lot better yes if you really need high end audio but Bose will do fine. However, I don't have the insulated glass option and it is in fact the only option I have regrets about. The tire & wind noise without the...
  13. Stuck in Southampton!!!!

Always have a type 2 cable with you so you can top up from the slow chargers which don't have a cable. Note this cable will fit into the small storage compartment below the trunk floor, so it doesn't actually affect anything to keep it there at all times. For a true roadtrip I would bring the...
  14. Issues with car post WLG2 Campaign software updates and 12v battery

Just read on Facebook that someone lost navigation & bunch of driver assistance systems after the update. Like not working at all. I'd highly appreciate if we have people who've had the updates done AND driven significantly after, telling that it all works fine. I've had pretty much almost no...
  15. My Taycan 4S is here!

Was getting some takeaway downtown and walked away from the car. Had to not just look back but take a couple of pics. It's such a gorgeous car :involve: Will get the right side headlights fixed next week. They will be doing the update campaign to the car during the same appointment.
  16. Do you use the power button or the park button & lock when you leave

It will go into equally deep sleep with both methods, as far as I know. It will just take a while to go fully asleep if you just lock the doors. With the power button it will go fully asleep immediately. I have never shut the car down with the power button, thus far. Just lock the doors. I...
  17. Recuperation Button

Coasting all the way for me. I use the button on the wheel when I switch to sport modes since they have regen on by default which I've learned to dislike.
  18. Charging at home

Taycan seems to have such a low phantom drain that I will not be worrying about whether it's plugged in or not when I'm on a trip somewhere. This is great, as in some situations it would just be a lot of extra hassle to make sure it's plugged in.
  19. My charging not starting at the programmed time

Some of the terms there are definitely confusing but here are my thoughts on what some of them actually mean. Optimized charging This has caused some confusion but I'm fairly certain that this mode simply means that the car will not interfere with the charging process other than in regards to...
  20. My charging not starting at the programmed time

Glad that we're reaching some level of consensus. Bottom line is that there seems to be a couple of different ways to set the car to charge to a certain percentage. As long as it works as intended, I think either approach is fine.
