We have a Taycan and an S Class. The Taycan is extremely quite and comfortable for front seat passengers but it is NOT an S Class.
If you want the best car for highway driving stick with the S Class. If you want the best electric sports car get a Taycan.
Test drove the Turbo S, the Turbo, and the 4S. Ordered the 4S with the Performance Package because it also is faster than any real world need I have. The other two are, if anything, too fast for me as well as having less range and costing more. To each their own.
I included the insulated glass in my order (it should not be an option).
The essence of the Taycan is its quietness and smooth ride combined with the acceleration, feel, and handling similar to a 911. The Taycan is a silent rocket ship. So, my thinking was that I might as well make it the best...
Specified a GTS on the US configurator identical my 4S (as close as I could get) and it looks like Porsche is asking about $10,000 to go 0-60 in 3.5 seconds instead of 3.8 (although I think CarandDriver that got 3.4 seconds on a 4S). Plus, you get some cosmetic goodies.
Looks like product...
I test drove the Turbo S, Turbo, and 4S before buying the 4S.
If you want the options on the 4S that are standard on the Turbo you are looking at about $25,000 to go 0.8 seconds faster to 60 and have less range with the Turbo. For me, the 4S is more than fast enough and the Turbo is...
I confirm some of Chrisk's Taycan issues. I waited until late 2020 to order a 2021 trying to avoid "early adopter" problems.
The big message in this thread is that Porsche is not living up to its customers' expectations as to quality. While I have no rattles after nine months of use, I do...
I have the same issues plus more.
LKA almost never recognizes well define road markings, so doesn’t work.
Cruise fails to detect stopped vehicle in front when approaching from beyond initial detection range ( dangerous).
Surround camera does not show camera views.
Hardware is awesome but...
Lots of interesting opinions and thoughts in this thread. The big question to me is why Porsche doesn't just include the 150kw charging ability in every Taycan as stock. (Hey Porsche, the nickels and dimes get painful not just financially, but as evidence of disrespect for the legitimate needs...
Happy? For the most part. Love the driving experience. Dislike paying to be a beta tester for their digital goodies.
Surround view doesn't work and the dealer has no clue why. ACC doesn't detect stopped car in front when approaching from beyond the initial detection range. LKA is worthless and...
I agree that LKA on the Taycan is unsafe.
First, I over reacts when it does work, taking the car far to the right before over reacting to the left.
Second, as noted above, LKA stops working at random even when the road markings are not becoming less clear to my eyes.
I have experience with...
Thanks to thecoloradokid for reiterating Taycan charging realities. If I had this information when I ordered I would have saved $460 USD for the On-Board 150 kW/400V DC Charger I will never use. If you live in the USA you don't need it either and Porsche NA should make sure those ordering...
Thanks for taking the time to post your experience.
I am curious as to whether you tried "plug and charge." You are supposed to just plug in. The car and EA charger are supposed to do their own handshake and the charging should just start. This did not work?
The electric charge port covers are a great party trick that offer no practical value and even add to the list of stuff that will eventually go wrong.
But I am happy I ordered them!
Too bad Volkswagen bought control of Porsche. Now they are General Motors circa 1980, spreading development cost across multiple brands with essentially the same attributes, while marketing to different segments.
The 911 is genuine Porsche, and while an excellent automobile, the Taycan is...
Hmmm, checked some other posts here and some believe Porsche made the surround feature a separate $$ option for 2021 even though the Premium Package specification refers to "Surround View." If this is true, Porsche has gone out of its way to be deceptive. Someone please tell me this is not true.
