The way I see it, I've gotten by without a passenger screen in my cars so far, so it's not a "need". But my wife wanted the screen for when she's riding in the car, so I optioned it in. Since I just picked it up I'll need some time to see how it works out in practice, but no regrets here so far.

As a practicing EE, this is correct. If the charger is connected to the posts and is actively driving 13.9V, and if the display is based on the post voltage, then you’d see 13.9V at that time.

Delivery is set for next Thursday for me. I received notice from my dealership a day ago that the car was unloaded, customs cleared, and quality checks passed. They expect to get it Mon/Tues.

That was very poor form for the article's author to simply leave his car in the Supercharger spot while he went to the mall. It's not actually a matter of "sacred real estate" where only Teslas may trod - it would have been equally poor form if it was a Tesla parked there and not charging.
