Hi All
I am about to swap my summer tyres out for winters and was going to change the tyres over before I do, so I don't have a load of waiting time when I get them put back on. I've got a price from Porsche and it's about £300 more than a local fitting (Porsche tax). I can get the tyres...
I agree the Y was a really practical car. The interior space really was awesome.
Do you have one? I see you have an R1T? My biggest issue was the ride. I'm interested to see if this is improved with the upcoming new model.
To me, a tyre lasting 14,000 miles seems acceptable. I've had quite a few high performance cars and they all wear tyres down before 14/15k miles. I do drive aggressively at times (on my own), so I accept that this is just generally the mileage that performance cars get on their tyres.
My other...
It was a mushy feel all the way down to the hydraulic brakes, which felt far too far down on the pedal. I only had to do a proper emergency stop once, and the *actual* braking performance was superb once I got them to bite, as you would expect. But the pedal felt so much better once I took it...
Mine had a software update performed a few months back for the brakes feeling 'mushy', as I mentioned it when I came in for a wheel change. Nothing else is listed on the invoice in terms of brake-related activity. But it fixed the feel of the brake pedal and it was night and day.
Porsche change them, and I've checked and it's all correct, so that's what I'm using. It would just be useful to see the specs written down somewhere ;)
It’s not always that helpful - see picture
Do you know what the pressure specs on these tyres are? I've asked Porsche several times but they are not very helpful. They told me to use the PCM pressure measurements and top up as appropriate
I will do. I will change these to winter tyres in November and they will almost certainly be on new rubber by the time they are back on the car in March.
When I had a Macan GTS loaner, I thought exactly the same!
Porsche Reading said a full fluid replacement is not in the recall, but charged me for just the fluid to do it during the work. Mine was trailered in as I had a "replace brake fluid" message come up on my PCM and Porsche Assistance...
Interesting pictures. I don't think it's changed my mind in terms of which one looks better, the original design is just more different and pretty to my eyes. But the J1 II is certainly not an ugly car by a long way. I've never liked the black on white Mission E's anyway, so that affects my...
I just had my car in Porsche and got the ol' "This tyre looks like it's been run flat because it has wear on the outside", which I will state now: it absolutely has not. It may have got to lowest 37 PSI, but that is not a low pressure (21" on Goodyear Eagle Asym), at all, especially as the PSI...
I would also add that you need to consider what you can get for the money you are paying at the end. I took business PCP on mine, due to knowing that it was an EV and technology moves on very fast. I also knew that it would massively depreciate, because it's a luxury 4-door car at a premium...
I checked MyPorsche and saw it had a recall on it. I've an annoyingly squeaking sounds at low speeds (not brakes which also squeak!), and so I got it booked in. They offered to service it at the same time, but sod doing that 3 months early, especially considering I assume they will replace the...
Have now seen quite a few of them in person and they really are a non-entity to look at, in my opinion. They do not have a Lotus design language and really are quite phat. Compared to the beauty of the Taycan, they don't compare. Even the Electric Macan looks much better
